‘Buffy’ Star Michelle Trachtenberg Dead at 39
Buffy and Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg has died at age 39.
Trachtenberg was found deceased in her apartment near New York City’s Columbus Circle on Wednesday morning by her mother, ABC News reports. Police sources said foul play was not suspected and the cause appeared to be natural. Trachtenberg had recently received a liver transplant and may have experienced complications from that procedure. An autopsy will be performed to determine the manner of death.

Trachtenberg was born in 1985 in New York City. Her career began in the 1990s with roles on the Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Pete and Pete and the soap All My Children. She gained fame for playing Buffy’s younger sister Dawn Summers on the cult favorite TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 2000 to 2003. She also portrayed Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl and reprised the role in the 2023 reboot. Trachtenberg also starred in movies like Mysterious Skin, Euro Trip, Harriet the Spy, and Ice Princess. More recently, she hosted the 2021 true crime series Meet, Marry, Murder.
