Caelynn Miller-Keyes Didn’t Think Her Relationship With Dean Unglert Would Last After ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
When Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert left the beaches of Bachelor in Paradise Season 6, some fans weren’t sure whether the reality stars were in it for the long haul. The couple faced plenty of challenges on the summer spinoff. But after almost a year since ditching the show hand-in-hand, Miller-Keyes and Unglert are still very much together. That said, it seems Miller-Keyes used to doubt her relationship with Unglert would last.
How Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert got together on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
When Miller-Keyes went on Bachelor in Paradise, she had ongoing drama with Blake Horstmann. Horstmann hooked up with Miller-Keyes and Kristina Schulman during Stagecoach in 2019. Then Miller-Keyes claimed Horstmann told her their time together was a mistake and proceeded to ghost her.
After the drama with Horstmann subsided, Unglert arrived in paradise and connected with Miller-Keyes. The couple instantly hit it off and things looked like they were heading somewhere. However, Unglert decided to leave the show, dumping Miller-Keyes on her birthday.
Miller-Keyes was torn up about the decision. But shortly after Unglert left BIP, the former Miss North Carolina USA sparked something with Connor Saeli. Nevertheless, Unglert returned and asked Miller-Keyes to leave Mexico with him. As we know, Miller-Keyes accepted Unglert’s offer and they’ve been going strong ever since.

In Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti’s Almost Famous podcast published on May 24, Miller-Keyes opened up about her life and experience on The Bachelor franchise. Then toward the end of the broadcast, Miller-Keyes revealed she didn’t think her relationship with Unglert would last as long as it has.
“At first, I was treating this relationship like it was — it sounds really bad — but like it was going to end. And that way, I was preparing my heart, because I couldn’t take that heartbreak again,” Miller-Keyes said. ‘I was like, ‘You know, he’s probably going to get tired of me soon.’”
This may not come as much of a surprise. Earlier in the podcast, Miller-Keyes opened up about her start with Unglert on Bachelor in Paradise. “He was determined to not leave in a relationship,” the reality star said.
Nevertheless, Miller-Keyes was relieved when Unglert returned for her in Mexico, even agreeing with Iaconetti that Saeli was “second place” in her heart at the time.
“There is just something that I have never felt with anyone that I feel with Dean,” Miller-Keyes said. “The second he came down, it may have looked like there was some contemplating going on, but I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, my heart is with you, for sure.’’
How Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert are doing now
Although Miller-Keyes had doubts about her relationship at the start, she seems confident in what she has with Unglert now.
“The more we traveled together, I was like, ‘Oh, this is actually something,’” Miller-Keyes said.
The Bachelor in Paradise alum also shared an update on how she’s doing with Unglert during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic quarantine.
“We are very happy,” Miller-Keyes said. “We are quarantining together. And sometimes we get on each other’s nerves. But for the most part, we get along great.”
