Cameron Diaz Calls Being a Mother ‘The Best Part of my Life’
Actress Cameron Diaz has been away from Hollywood for quite some time, choosing to stay out of the spotlight with husband Benji Madden. The couple became first-time parents when they welcomed daughter Raddix in January, taking to Instagram to share their happy news.
The Charlie’s Angels star recently commented on her new role as a mom and the joy it’s brought to her and her husband.

On January 3, Diaz announced Raddix’s arrival on Instagram. “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden,” she wrote. “She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
The Vanilla Sky star also let her followers know that they wouldn’t be sharing pics of their baby girl any time soon.
“While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy,” Diaz explained. “So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact she is really, really cute. Some might even say RAD.”
Ringing in 2020 with another reason to celebrate, the happy couple marked their fifth wedding anniversary shortly after welcoming Raddix to their family.

Diaz sat down with her friend and Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power for an Instagram Live interview to talk about her three-month-old and how parenting has impacted her life.
“I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life,” the actress gushed, according to People. “I’m so, so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to get to do it with Benji and we’re just having the best time. It’s so great. I’m just thrilled.”
With the coronavirus crisis enforcing a global lockdown, Diaz commented that she is used to hunkering down.
“I’ve kinda been living a quarantine life anyhow because I have a three-month-old, or a three-and-a-half-month old,” the Annie star explained. “So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months.”
Though she enjoys the peaceful lifestyle, Diaz noted the drastic changes going on due to COVID-19. “I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody,” she said.“But it’s nice, and I love a bubble, I love being in the womb of my home with my husband and cooking. But at the same time it’s crazy that you can’t go out to the world right now.”
Cameron Diaz doesn’t miss acting
Though she had achieved mega celebrity status, Diaz seems much more content out of the spotlight.
“The way I look at it is that I’ve given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it’s OK for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world. If I decide to,” she said, according to InStyle. “I don’t miss performing. Right now I’m looking at the landscape of wellness and all that. But whatever I do, it has to be something I’m passionate about — something that just feels effortless.”
Relishing her freedom, Diaz is apparently thriving in her life unshackled by the demands of Hollywood. “It’s fun to just not have anybody know what I’m up to. Because my time is all mine,” she explained. “I’m not selling any films, and because I’m not selling anything, I don’t have to give anybody anything. I’m not doing this anymore. I’m living my life.”
In her interview with Power, the actress didn’t hold back on praise for her husband. “He’s such an amazing father,” Diaz said of Madden. “I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s daddy. He’s so incredible.”
