Cameron Diaz Is Returning to Acting—8 of Her Movies Streaming Now
Cameron Diaz is going back to acting after a 10-year break. She’s starring in the appropriately titled Netflix movie, Back in Action, with Jamie Foxx. To celebrate Diaz’s big return, here are some of her movies, from comedies to musicals, streaming now.
1 ‘The Sweetest Thing’
Perhaps one of Diaz’s most well-known movies alongside The Holiday and Charlie’s Angels, The Sweetest Thing has Christina (Diaz) breaking her only dating rule. Soon she and her best friend, Courtney (Christina Applegate), are on a road trip to find love.

2. Cameron Diaz movies streaming now: ‘My Sister’s Keeper’
Based on the Jodi Picoult novel, My Sister’s Keeper follows Anna (Abigail Breslin) as she sues her parents, Sara (Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric), after being conceived as a marrow donor for her older sister, Kate, who has leukemia.
Directed by Nick Cassavetes of The Notebook fame, My Sister’s Keeper is a tear-jerker that’s available to stream on Max.
3. ‘In Her Shoes’
In this comedy-drama, Diaz plays party girl Jules. Meanwhile, her sister, Rose (Toni Collete), is a successful lawyer who keeps bailing Jules out of trouble until it’s too much. Jules soon finds herself living with their long-lost grandmother, Ella (Shirley MacLaine), only to discover things about herself—and her relationship with Rose—along the way.

4. ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’
Inspired by the best-selling book, What to Expect When You’re Expecting follows Diaz as one of multiple expectant mothers navigating pregnancy and parenthood.
The comedy includes a majorly star-studded ensemble cast. Besides Diaz, some of the big names include Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Lopez, Anna Kendrick, Chris Rock, and Ben Falcone.

5. ‘Gangs of New York’
See Diaz as a savvy pick-pocket in 2002’s Gangs of New York directed by Martin Scorsese. Set in 19th-century New York, her character gets caught stealing by Leonardo DiCaprio and teams up with Daniel Day-Lewis.

6. Cameron Diaz movies streaming now: ‘Shrek’
Perhaps one of Diaz’s most famous roles, she voiced Princess Fiona in the hit animated movie, Shrek. Diaz’s co-stars include Mike Myers as the lovable titular ogre, Eddie Murphy as the hilarious Donkey, and John Lithgow as Lord Farquaad. The original, as well as others in the franchise, are streaming on Peacock.
7. ‘Vanilla Sky’
This 2001 sci-fi psychological thriller starring Diaz, Penelope Cruz, and Tom Cruise, is available to stream on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video. Without spoiling the ending for those who may not have watched Vanilla Sky when it was first released, Julianna (Diaz) enters David’s (Cruise) life and soon changes it forever.
Speaking to People to mark the movie’s 20th anniversary, director Cameron Crowe recalled how lucky he was to get Diaz on board because she’d been on a break from filming Gangs of New York in Italy.
“I just remember those electric blue eyes that matched the car that she drove and her kinetic energy that she brought from Italy,” Crowe said of Diaz. “You couldn’t take your eyes off her. It was the soul of the movie in ways I didn’t realize.”
8. Cameron Diaz movies streaming now: ‘Annie’
Diaz’s last movie before her hiatus, 2014’s Annie, a remake of the classic 1982 movie musical, is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. In it, she plays Hannigan, the head of the orphanage and the main antagonist viewers love to hate.
Diaz starred in Annie alongside Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Bobby Cannavale as the titular character.
