Cameron Mathison and Candace Cameron Bure ‘Finally’ Team Up for Christmas Movie — Get the Details
It will be a meeting of two Camerons on Great American Family this holiday season. Cameron Mathison and Candace Cameron Bure are teaming up for their first Christmas movie, Home Sweet Christmas. It will air later in 2024 as part of the channel’s “Great American Christmas” programming event.
Candace Cameron Bure and Cameron Mathison to star in ‘Home Sweet Christmas’
Fuller House star Bure and General Hospital alum Mathison both have plenty of Christmas rom-coms under their belts. She starred in 10 Christmas movies for Hallmark before signing an exclusive deal with the Great American Family network in April 2022. Since then, she’s starred in several movies for the faith and family-focused channel, including 2023’s My Christmas Hero.
Mathison was also a Hallmark regular, starring in movies such as The Christmas Club and A Christmas to Remember. In November 2023, he signed an exclusive deal with Great American Family.
Despite their many years at Hallmark, Mathison and Bure never shared the screen in a holiday movie. Bure is thrilled they now have the chance to work together.
“Home Sweet Christmas coming to a @greatamericanfamily channel this Christmas season,” she wrote on Instagram. “We’ve been waiting 15 years to do a Christmas movie together and it’s finally happening!!! We can’t wait for you to enjoy this movie alongside your family.”
What is ‘Home Sweet Christmas’ about?
In Home Sweet Christmas, Bure plays Sophie, a successful mergers and acquisitions attorney, who returns to her hometown following the death of her great-uncle Henry.
Henry left his niece a 60 percent stake in Marlow Maple Meadows, a sprawling patch of sugar maple forest. As Sophie visits the place where she created so many happy memories as a child, she crosses paths with Sam (Mathison), her former childhood friend. Henry has left Sam the other 40 percent of the property. As Sophie and Sam decide what to do with their inheritance, they discover that neither is ready to let go of the past just yet.
Home Sweet Christmas does not yet have a premiere date. But it looks like production on the movie is underway. On August 22, Mathison shared a snap of himself standing in a field bordered by trees with the caption “set life” on his Instagram Story.
Bure’s flick with Mathison is one of two Christmas movies she’ll star in this year for Great American Family. The other is A Christmas Less Traveled. A previously announced movie, Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells, won’t go into production in 2024.
Home Sweet Christmas joins the growing list of new Christmas movies Great American Family plans to air this year, including A Little Women’s Christmas with Jen Lilley and Love at the Kettle with Carlos and Alexa PenaVega. Details about those and other 2024 Christmas movies can be found at GreatAmericanFamily.com.
