Camila Morrone Says It’s ‘Frustrating’ Always Being Called Leonardo DiCaprio’s Girlfriend
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors. The 45-year-old actor has built a reputation dating supermodels and actresses, never staying with anyone too long or making a permanent commitment. And that works for him.
However, he seems especially enamored by his girlfriend of more than two years, Camila Morrone. The pair was first spotted together on a January 2018 trip to Aspen and have been inseparable ever since. They seem perfect for each other except for one small detail — Morrone, an aspiring actor herself, is sick to death of being called DiCaprio’s girlfriend.

Older men hooking up with younger women in Hollywood is nothing new. However, even the most understanding fans were surprised when DiCaprio began his relationship with Morrone, who is 23 years younger than he is.
Morrone went on the defense in the face of critics. “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood – and in the history of the world – where people have large age gaps,” the Mickey and the Bear star told LA Times. “I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”
More than two years later this couple is still going strong, much to the surprise of naysayers. However, Morrone does have one huge complaint.
DiCaprio is a Hollywood legend
It’s inevitable that people will use DiCaprio’s name when they reference Morrone because he’s had a lot more time in the business to establish a reputation. The LA-born celeb began his career doing commercials before his breakout role starring as Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s blockbuster, Titanic.
Now, the Academy Award winner has appeared in more than 50 films and earned his status as one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.
Camila Morrone doesn’t want to be in DiCaprio’s shadow
Girlfriend Morrone said it’s “frustrating” constantly being associated with DiCaprio’s name whenever news outlets mention her. She’s hoping as she takes on more projects, she’ll start to get more clout of her own.
“I think more and more now that people are seeing [Mickey and the Bear], I’m slowly getting an identity outside of that,” Morrone said about being DiCaprio’s partner. “Which is frustrating, because I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating.”
She continued: “I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”

After gaining notoriety as a model, Morrone is firmly focused on making it big on-screen and becoming a star separate from her famous boyfriend.
Besides the independent film Mickey and the Bear, the actor co-starred in Never Goin’ Back (2019) and the romantic comedy Valley Girl (2020). She earned the Rising Star Award at the 2019 San Diego International Film Festival.
She’s also signed on to appear in the Amazon Video series Daisy Jones & The Six, which is based on a book by the same name and being produced by Reese Witherspoon.
