Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is spending the remaining days of 2024 behind bars after his arrest in September 2024. The A-lister pleads not guilty to criminal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He plans to go to trial in May 2025, which means he’s spending his 2024 holidays at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. So, can he see his family on Thanksgiving this year? Here’s what to know.

Can Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs see his family on Thanksgiving in 2024?

Sean “Diddy” Combs resides in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn despite multiple attempts to seek a bail package. The jail is known for its harsh conditions and terrible food, giving outsiders some idea of the hardships that Combs must face as a resident. So, can Combs see his family for Thanksgiving in 2024?

If Combs’ family hopes to visit him on the federal holiday, he most likely can. However, the MDC has rules they must follow.

“For pretrial, in transit, and hold-over inmates, there are two visiting periods during the week and on holidays,” the MDC website reads. “The hours are afternoons from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and evenings from
5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Visits on federal holidays will be afforded to the unit whose regular visiting day falls on the particular holiday.” Inmates receive one hour of visiting time per visit.

All of Combs’ visitors have to present valid identification before seeing him. For the hip-hop mogul to see all of his kids at once, he may need prior approval from the Unit Manager. Combs has seven kids total, with three of them — D’Lila and Jessie, 17, and Love, 1 — minors.

“Inmates will be allowed only one social visit in a single day,” the website adds. “Only four social visitors per inmate will be allowed access to the visiting room at one time.”

The MDC has rules for three of Combs’ kids under 18. “A signature of a parent or guardian will be necessary to process the visitation request of individuals under the age of 18,” the MDC website explains. “Visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”

It didn’t look like Sean “Diddy” Combs’ kids went to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to visit him on his birthday. However, they offered him a sweet phone call to show their support.

Combs’ son, Christian “King,” posted an Instagram video of his brothers and sisters wishing his dad a happy birthday.

“I love y’all; I love y’all so much,” Combs can be heard saying over the phone to his kids who are gathered and sharing supportive words. “I can’t wait to see y’all. I’m proud of y’all — especially the girls. I mean, all y’all, just for being strong. Thank ya’ll for being strong and thank ya’ll for being by my side and supporting me. I love y’all. I got the best family in the world. It’s my birthday; I’m happy. Thank you all for giving me this call.”

The hip-hop mogul likely doesn’t receive special treatment behind bars

Sean “Diddy” Combs had a lot of power before his arrest. However, former Married at First Sight star Timothy Smith, who previously served time, told DailyMail.com that Combs likely doesn’t get any “special treatment.”

“His money and wealth won’t get him any benefits,” Smith said. “In the federal system, it’s so limited, you don’t get extra privileges because you’re rich. You’re allowed a few basics, like a tracksuit and sneakers from the commissary, but that’s about it. They do raids, and if you try to stockpile, they take everything.”

Smith added that Combs likely only receives 300 minutes on the phone per month. “So if you’re on the phone for 30 minutes a day, after 10 days, you get no more phone for the next 20 days,” he added.
