Captain America Actually Died in ‘Infinity War’ According to an MCU Fan Theory
The thrilling and tragic Battle of Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity Wars is perhaps the most important scene in the entire history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) thus far.
The devastating battle and end of the movie results in the deaths of many beloved characters, and sets the stage for the epic final confrontation with the evil and powerful Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Endgame. The fight is the end of a story that has been continually built in the 20 plus film series that centers on the powerful Infinity Stones.
Thanos’ only goal is to retrieve the final Stone that is implanted in Vision’s (Paul Bettany) head. In the scene, Thanos uses his other Stones to take down his Avenger foes, and according to one fan theory, he uses the Time Stone to surprisingly revive one of the most famous Avengers after killing him.
The fan theory that Captain America died in the Battle of Wakanda
At the end of the film, Captain America (Chris Evans) and his fellow Avengers do everything in their power to save Vision, and keep the final Infinity Stone that is in his head away from Thanos.
The epic battle is a fantastic piece of action film, showcasing the many heroes of the MCU and their abilities. The Mind Stone is the final piece that the Mad Titan requires to complete his Infinity Gauntlet, which will give him the power to destroy half of the population of the universe.
They are eventually unsuccessful, and Thanos achieves his malicious intent. During the fight, some fans believe that Captain America dies as a result of a massive blow to the head by Thanos and is then brought back when Thanos reverses time.
Thanos has to reverse time because Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) destroys the Stone, killing her love Vision. By using the Time Stone, the Titan is able to turn back time and pluck the Mind Stone from Vision.
The powers of the Time Stone
The Time Stone is one of six Infinity Stones that give their holder immense power. The other five stones are the Mind, Power, Reality, Space, and Soul. If someone is able to hold all of the Stones, they hold the power to do anything they desire.
In the case of Thanos, the villain wishes to use that power to eliminate one-half of the life in the universe. To do this, Thanos must track down all the Stones, including the Time Stone. He receives the Time Stone after defeating a team of Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy on his home planet Titan. The Stone is held by its protector Dr. Strange, who previously used the Stone to defeat Dormammu.
Dr. Strange, after examining every future possibility to find a way to defeat Thanos, surrenders his enemy, the Stone that he was sworn to protect. As its name suggests, the Time Stone gives the holder the power to manipulate time itself, which is displayed in the final scene involving Thanos and Vision.
Why the theory could be right or wrong
Passionate fans frequently discuss MCU theories on Reddit, including the popular Captain America was killed during the Battle of Wakanda and revived by the Time Stone, which is argued on various threads.
This theory has many supporters who believe the idea is possible, but also many detractors who think that the theory has no proof. Those who don’t believe the theory argue that the punch from Thanos is not strong enough to actually kill him.
Thanos is an extremely strong fighter, shown by his victory over Hulk in hand-to-hand combat, but Cap is very resilient and could take a single punch without dying. His super-soldier serum makes him able to withstand a lot, including being frozen for over 50 years.
They also point out that the Time Stone focuses on only the intended target, which is Vision and his Mind Stone.
