Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck recently shared some valuable parenting insight with model and Bravo superfan Chrissy Teigen.

Teigen tweeted that she recently adopted a menagerie of pets, adding two new parakeets to her brood. “Our family adopted two new parakeets for our home school classroom. that makes 1 English bulldog, 2 French bulldogs, one giant poodle, one bearded dragon, one still alive hamster and two parakeets that do nothing but gossip and look in their parakeet mirror,” Teigen joked on Twitter.

As a father of five, Rosbach knew all too well about kids and small pets. “Keep a close eye on the hamster, very unpredictable, can’t tell you how many we had to replace in a clandestine fashion so as not let the children know what actually happened,” he replied on the thread.

Other parents had the same experience

A few other parents responded to Rosbach’s reply, sharing they made the same move when their children had a hamster. “Just happened to us recently but our 10 year old is too smart to fool anymore,” one person replied. “We buried Kiki in the yard next to the swing before our daughter woke up, and by the end of the day Pistachio was the newest addition spinning on the wheel. We are on #3 and I still hate hamsters.”

Another person recalled a personal experience as a child. “Oh the dreaded first childhood pet the hamster..my mom let me get one and I doted on him no end. Then one day my younger sister so enthusiastically bursts into my bedroom one morning and poor PJ (his name) is crushed by the door. I mean he had survived going into the air ducts!”

“My sisters and I learned all about that one thanksgiving night in our 20’s,” another person wrote after finally learning what happened to her hamsters. Others added they’ve done something similar with fish.

Chrissy Teigen is a true ‘Below Deck’ superfan

Rosbach’s tweet will likely be welcome advice. Teigen has often discussed her love of the Below Deck and joked back and forth with bosun Kelley Johnson during one season of show. Like many fans, she knows deploying the bulky and often time-consuming waterslide is agony for the deck crew. “I just said no to boat/ocean playthings because if Below Deck has taught me anything, it’s that they f***ing hate a slide setup,” she tweeted in 2016, Bravo’s The Daily Dish recounts.

“Make them get it out. It’s our jobs, and we get paid for it,” Johnson replied. “Your happiness during charter is what matters.” Teigen hilariously responded, “But I can’t swim, Kelley. It’s a death trap anyhow.”

Teigen reiterated her aversion to the slide in 2019 too. Rosbach tweeted about how one of his crew members missed the mark and Teigen reminded him she’d never want that water slide if she was a charter guest.

Teigen and husband John Legend showed their love for Below Deck when they dressed up like Valor crew last Halloween. The couple even shot a fun video with friends, which she shared on Twitter. “By far the dumbest thing we have ever done,” Teigen added to her tweet.
