Cara Delevingne Is Not a Fan of Justin Bieber
You can always count on Justin Bieber to stoke the fires of young celebrity drama by opening his often unguarded mouth. His plunge-right-through then runaway comments have landed him in a heap of unflattering gossip before.
This time he earned the unbridled ire of his wife Hailey’s friend, Cara Delevingne, by participating in a friend-ranking game on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Delevingne was not amused and is more than happy to let it be known to anyone who will listen.
Who is Cara Delevingne and Why is She So Mad?
Cara Delevingne is as much a savvy social media goddess as she is one of the most sought-after fashion models in the industry. Not only is she the highest-paid model in the United Kingdom, but she also has an impressive 10 million followers on Twitter and over 40 million avid fans on Instagram. Delevingne is slowly expanding her talents by transitioning from the catwalk to the big screen with mixed success. She starred in the 2015 coming-of-age movie, Paper Towns, and in the fantasy television series, Carnival Row, last year.
The multi-faceted and versatile diva also has her eye on the music world, fashion design, and book writing with several notable forays into each. As a powerful social influencer and enviable brand in her own right, why should Delevingne care what Justin Bieber says on late, late-night television? It isn’t the first time the two stars have clashed and it probably won’t be the last.
How did Justin Bieber upset Cara Delevingne?
Hailey Bieber has lots of famous friends and her husband should have known better than to name his preferences in public. Instead, he unhesitantly named his favorite as Kendall Jenner with Gigi Hadid as his chosen second.
Delevingne ended up in an unflattering third place and this just didn’t sit well with the young starlet. She was quick to loudly blast Bieber on social media for his snub.
Bieber’s statement on the show prompted gasps and jeers from the crowd in the audience. He scrambled to explain his answer. ” Here’s the thing, let’s go back to it. I know Kendall the best. I’ve spent the most time with Kendall, you know, she’s a good friend of ours. I haven’t spent a lot of time with Gigi and I haven’t spent a lot of time with Cara.”
His back-peddling wasn’t good enough for Delevingne. She fumed publicly, garnering a variety of reactions from her fans and followers. Bieber has not responded and no one has heard a word about the issue from his wife.
Is it just leftover hard feelings?
Public feuding between Delevingne and Bieber is nothing new. Taylor Swift’s explosive allegations of bullying by record executive, Scooter Braun, had social media pages burning up. In no time at all, Bieber got involved taking sides with and defending Braun who represents him as his manager. It was another bad move for the loose-lipped entertainer spurring the disdain of other young celebrities including Delevingne.
She pulled no punches in her scathing rebuke of Bieber’s unpopular opinion as well as his wife’s defense of it.
So even though the Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun brawl has calmed down a bit, it doesn’t mean Delevingne is ready to declare the Biebers as her besties. It comes as no surprise then that Bieber’s third-place public friendship-ranking of Delevingne on national television ruffled the model’s beautiful feathers.
She is still seething over being blocked by Bieber on Instagram and it doesn’t look like the drama will stop buzzing social media timelines for a while. Bieber fans are convinced Delevingne is making a mountain out of a molehill. Only time will tell how and if Bieber will once again step inadvertently on Delevingne’s pretty toes.
