Cardi B and Offset Criticized for Gifting Daughter Kulture With Birkin Bag
Cardi B is no stranger to internet scrutiny or parent shaming and she’ll often speak out against those who criticize her.
This time, she and husband Offset garnered negative attention for something they gave their baby girl, Kulture. It didn’t go unnoticed, and Cardi B decided to strike back at her critics with a pointed message.
Cardi B and Offset’s daughter Kulture just turned 2
Kulture Kiari Cephus celebrated her second birthday on July 10, and her parents went all out. Cardi B and Offset shared videos of her lavish L.O.L.-themed party on Instagram, and the little girl was dressed to impress in a hot pink tutu dress.
The party layout included inflatables, balloon archways, a cotton candy machine, ball pit, and other kid-friendly activities. One of her many gifts included a toddler-sized convertible, but there was one from her father that attracted disapproval on social media.
Offset gave daughter Kulture a Birkin bag
A few days after Kulture’s birthday bash, Offset shared a video of himself surprising his daughter with another gift.
Tucked away inside a signature orange box was a mini Birkin bag, in hot pink of course. What struck some fans was Kulture’s reaction. You can check it out in the clip below.
However, the gesture prompted some netizens to either criticize Offset’s spending habits or crack jokes about what Kulture really wanted.
On Instagram, comments such as “Cut the sh*t, for real. What a waste of money. Happy birthday and everything, but, get her some toys and send her outside,” “That’s nice but she was looking for a toy instead,” and “She don’t give a sh*t, threw it straight down” were pouring in, but so were the compliments.
Some fans defended both parents by stating it’s their money and they can spend it on their child how they want. Others simply praised Offset for being a good dad and thought the gift was cute.
Cardi B hit back at naysayers with a video
Cardi B responded to those who wanted to shame them over the Birkin bag, and hit Instagram and Twitter with a message. She explained that it’s not about a child wanting toys, it’s that her kids will be dressed “fly” like her when they leave the house.
“Kids go to restaurants. Kids go to fancy places. Celebrity kids, they go do red carpets, so if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid,” she said.
Fans again chimed in to co-sign on Cardi B’s position. One person tweeted, “The Kardashians spoil their kids and no one says a word but when it comes to Cardi they be running their mouth.”
Another said, “When Kylie showed off Stormi’s Hermés bag collection, no one blinked and when she said Birkin at 2 years old we all said aww. DJ Khalid bought Asad a diamond Rolex at like 1 years old. Let’s keep the same energy for Kulture please. Cardi and Offset can afford what they want.”
Others thought the detractors were just jealous. “Not people on the internet mad as sh*t a 2 year old got a birkin before they did,” read a different tweet.
Cardi B felt the need to justify this gift, but she also prefers that people mind their own business when it comes to how she and Offset parent.
