Cardi B and Offset’s relationship remains in the limelight years after its dramatic beginnings. However, the couple has kept some aspects of their love life private. One secret the couple kept for a time was that they had a spontaneous wedding.

Cardi B and Offset first met in 2016. The couple had their first official date on February 5, 2017. In an article in Rolling Stone, Offset mentions that he had a publicist set up dinner in New York for a group of women, including Cardi B.
In the article, Offset mentions that his interest in Cardi B grew as he watched her rise as an artist. “I am like, “S…, I like Cardi B!” Offset says, describing how his interest in her grew.
On September 20, 2017, Cardi B and Offset got married in secret. However, they kept it a secret, and he proposed publicly a month later. For months after, outlets referred to them as engaged.
In December 2017, their relationship hit the rocks after a video of Offset reportedly cheating on Cardi B surfaced on the internet. However, they quickly patched things up. In January 2018, Offset got Cardi B’s name tattooed on his neck.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Cardi B explains why she decided not to break things off with Offset despite the cheating allegations. “I want to work out my s*** with my man…It’s not right what he f****** did, but people don’t know what I did,” she explained.

Months later, the truth came out. TMZ dug out a marriage certificate showing the two married on September 20, 2017. Later on, Cardi B confirmed the report. In June 2018, she tweeted, confirming that they’d been married for nine months. She stated that getting married was one of the moments that she wanted to keep to herself, and their only witness was a family member.
“One morning in September we woke up and decided to get married,” the “WAP” artist wrote. So why the public proposal? “I appreciate and love my husband so much for still wanting for me have that special moment every girl dreams of when he got down on his knee and put a ring to my finger,” she wrote. In part, Cardi B shared all of these details to ward off those who said she had their daughter out of wedlock (Kulture was born just a couple of weeks after the post).
She filed for divorce but stayed with him
In September 2020, the People reported that Cardi B had filed a divorce from Offset to end their three-year-old marriage. E! Online obtained court documents stating the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
According to a video acquired by TMZ, Cardi B claimed that she was getting back with Offset. “It’s really hard not to talk to your best friend,” Cardi B claims. According to documents obtained by the Insider, Cardi B filed to dismiss her petition for divorce in November 2020.
In September 2021, Cardi B and Offset welcomed their second child, a son. They later revealed his name: Wave Set Cephus.
