While Cardi’s loyal fans couldn’t be happier she’s broadening her horizons, others are actually slamming the rapper for trying to be part of a national legislative body they believe she knows nothing about.

Cardi B’s interest in politics was sparked by “war documentaries”

Cardi B may be adding Congresswoman to her long list of achievements in the upcoming future.

The Invasion of Privacy rapper has been showing a great deal of interest in politics lately. While many fans have applauded her openness surrounding political issues over these last few months, many were surprised to learn that Cardi’s actually looking to get into the political ring.

On January 12, the Bronx native took to Twitter to announce her political aspirations in a series of posts.

“I think I want to be a politician,” she wrote in one tweet. “I really love government even tho I don’t agree with Goverment.”

Cardi went on to reveal that her interest in public affairs sparked while “watching war documentaries.”

“Like I was watching War documentaries,” she shared. “No matter how many weapons a country have you need people ! How are you trying to go against a country and possibly start a war when this country lacks patriotism? I barely see people claiming they LOVE being American.”

After receiving mixed reviews from her fans, Cardi shared that she was going to explain her decision a little more clearly using a different platform seeing as though Twitter was not doing her explanations justice.

“I will have to explain a lot so I will have to do a video or a live talking about it,” she wrote. “So imma come back to my last two tweets another day.Imma talk about it another day.”

Cardi later revealed that though she’s in need of proper schooling before her goal of becoming a politician is achieved, she is confident she’ll be an ideal member of the political party.

“I do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress,” she explained. “I deada** have sooo much ideas that make sense.I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table.”

Many aren’t onboard with Cardi’s political aspirations

While the rapper’s loyal fans believe that she could easily become an elected official, others feel as though she’s the last person who should run for Congress.

After posting her series of tweets, many began sharing how opposed they are to the idea of Representative Cardi B.

“I went to college for both American History and Political Science, although to be fair…even my cat is more qualified to run for Congress than Cardi B,” avid Trump supporter and reality star Mindy Robinson tweeted.

“No, CardiB shouldn’t waste her time at a run for Congress,” someone else expressed. “Most people wouldn’t take her seriously; I certainly don’t. Anyone who can’t communicate intelligently and effectively doesn’t deserve my vote. And I mean this.”

Some people even brought up the fact that the rapper was recently indicted on felony charges, which they believe disqualifies her from running for Congress.

“Wants to be in congress but still is in court on gang related charges @iamcardib,” someone else tweeted. “Did horrible acts like drugging and robbing and i guess its ok to be in congress.”

As people continue to slam Cardi B’s political aspirations, fans have been coming to her defense, pointing out different reasons why her ambitious goal could definitely become a reality.

“Cardi B already beat the odds by going from a poor stripper to a multi-millionaire and one of the top women in music today,” one fan shared. “Who is anyone to tell her she can’t run for Congress?

Cardi has been increasingly political on social media

Though Cardi B’s legal aspirations aren’t being embraced by the masses, her interest in politics isn’t entirely unexpected.

The rapper has been incredibly outspoken about government and public affairs these last few months.

In August, she partnered with Senator Bernie Sanders—who she endorsed back in 2016—to talk, in-depth, about his 2020 campaign.

She’s also called out President Donald Trump on social media more than once over government issues he’s been at the center of.

While people continue to stand by their belief that Cardi B is unqualified for Congress, it seems to others that she definitely has what it takes to “shake the table” with a political run.
