Cardi B Is Enraged Over Breonna Taylor’s Death Because of a Personal Tragedy
“Bodak Yellow” is the hit-song that put Cardi B and her rap career on the map. It is hard to believe that the song that landed a number one spot on Billboard Hot 100 was just only released in 2018.
Since then, Cardi B has reached new levels of success and fame. However, the New York rapper will be the first to tell you it wasn’t easy. Cardi B is infamous for her candid nature and has always been very open about her history as a stripper. In addition, Cardi B is also known for her brief stint with reality television.
Back in 2015, before her career took off, the rapper appeared on Love & Hip Hop: New York. Over the past few years, aside from her sensational music, Cardi B has been in the headlines and media over her complex relationship with the rapper Offset. However, more recently, Cardi B is making it a point to speak about important issues.
Cardi B is taking a stand when it comes to politics
Cardi B’s listeners and fans can probably recall when Cardi B decided to sit down and have a talk with Senator Bernie Sanders. At the time Sanders was still hopeful he would be able to secure a spot as a democratic presidential candidate.
Some people used this as an opportunity to try to bring the rapper down, and one individual posted: “You need to stick to rapping, sis, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.” Unfortunately, negative comments and haters are something that Cardi B has grown accustomed to, and luckily, nothing and no one has seemed to slow the rapper’s role.
The rapper is not shy about hiding her distaste for President Donald Trump. In an interview with Elle the famous rapper explained: “I want a president who makes me feel secure. I want a president who understands the pain of the people. I want a president who is going to give us answers.”
Cardi B also used the interview as a way to encourage people to get involved on every level. She enthusiastically said: “You can vote for DAs. You can vote for mayors. You can vote for your district. Not everything is the president. You know what I’m saying?” The talented rapper does make an excellent point.
Cardi B uses her social media accounts as a platform for change
Celebrities and famous musicians are able to use social media and their platforms to gain momentum and advocate for important issues. Cardi B is one of the many stars of society that have been using their voices to fight for justice.
Specifically speaking, Cardi B is very adamant and passionate about the death of Breonna Taylor. As much of the world already know, Taylor was a 26 years-old woman who was wrongfully murdered by members of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
When speaking in an interview Cardi B expressed how messed up the situation is. The rapper bluntly said: “What’s the excuse? Why is the cop not in jail? Wasn’t what he did a crime? It’s a crime! And no apology. No apology. No video of the cop coming out crying, ‘I fucked up. I don’t this. I don’t that.’ Nothing. It’s nothing. I don’t even know how her mom still holds her head up. Unbelievable.”
Other celebrities like Beyoncé and Oprah have joined Cardi B fighting for this very important cause.
Cardi B has been using her social media accounts to continue to fight for Taylor. On Instagram the rapper posted a video with the caption, “Let me tell ya something. This is why we gotta keep fighting .Breonna Taylor was one year younger then me .Pose ,dress, live her life how we do !Imagine if this happens to YOUR FRIEND ,YOUR SISTER.”
The rapper has even changed her Instagram avatar to “Breonna Taylor” as means of trying to bring as much awareness as possible to Taylor and her story.
Cardi B is demanding justice for Breonna Taylor, and she is also shedding light on a personal tragedy that the rapper has gone through
It is evident that getting justice Taylor is of paramount importance to the New York native rapper. When thinking about Taylor and her family Cardi B couldn’t help but think back to a tragic time in her own life.
In her interview with Elle, Cardi B shared the intimate details of a personal tragedy that she and her family endured. The rapper recounted the uneasy memories the night her cousin was murdered.
Cardi B explained: “I remember everybody waking up at 3 a.m. and driving all the way to New Jersey, to the hospital. And through all that driving, you’re crying and scared and everything.” It is a reality that no one should have to go through, and, hopefully, Cardi B’s actions and words will continue to help society in the fight to put an end to injustice.
