Cardi B Reportedly Files for Divorce From Offset After Three Years of Marriage; What She’s Asking for in the Divorce
Cardi B is calling it quits on her marriage to Offset. The Love & Hip Hop star turned “WAP” rapper’s filing comes as a shock to some fans. For others, the news is not surprising. The couple has overcome infidelity and rumors of more cheating throughout their relationship but always reconciled. This time, Cardi says she’s leaving for good.
Cardi B reportedly files for divorce from Offset
Hollywood Unlocked reports that Cardi has filed for divorce from Offset after three years of marriage and one daughter.
The media site claims they contacted the Fulton County superior court in Georgia who confirmed that a divorce petition has been filed in Superior Court – with Cardi as the petitioner. They also report that a few days prior to Cardi filing for divorce, she posted a cryptic quote to her Instagram story that read: “Her heart finally told her to stop wasting her time,” along with the writing, “it’s time .”
E! News is also reporting Cardi’s divorce filing. Her legal team tells the media outlet that her marriage is “irretrievably broken” and “there are no prospects for reconciliation.” She is requesting child support from Offset and hopes the divorce “will be settled by agreement of the parties.”
Their daughter Kulture is two-years-old. Offset also has other children with different women. The pair recently moved into a mega-mansion in Georgia. Cardi is requesting custody of Offset. She also wants Offset to cover her legal expenses. It’s unclear what triggered the divorce filing or if the two are currently separated.
This isn’t the first time Cardi B and Offset have split
Cardi and Offset’s love story has not been without hiccups. They secretly married in September 2017. Just a year later, Cardi split with Offset due to infidelity. Offset publicly pleaded for Cardi’s forgiveness, even interrupting her live concert to beg for to reconcile with him.
Taking their family into consideration, the couple decided to work things out, which Cardi says her fans were not happy with. In a January 2020 interview with Vogue, Cardi explains her decision to stay.
“When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me,” she said, as reported by E! News. “A lot of women felt disappointed in me.”
She continued: “But it’s real-life s–t. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation.”
Additional cheating rumors followed. A woman claiming to be the girlfriend of Tekhasi 6×9 posted a video to her Instagram account with a screenshot from what she says is from the Migos rapper. The screenshot shows Offset allegedly flirting with her in her direct messages.
Cardi responded, alleging her and Offset’s accounts were hacked but fans did not believe them. Other social media influencers have accused Offset of being unfaithful.
