Underwood’s fitness apparel line led to her new book
The artist told Today her just-published book has been in the works since she launched her workout fitness apparel and accessory line, CALIA by Carrie, in 2015.
She is serious about working out and dresses in her fitness apparel at all times just in case she can find time for a workout.
“I keep workout clothes on all the time basically because I’m like, a workout can happen anywhere,” she told Shape in 2018. “My favorite is to go to the park with my son – the kids’ jungle gym can be a really great workout for parents, too.”
Underwood on why she’s an exercise geek
The mom of two shared her new book with Today hosts Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly. It’s clear, well, by looking at the 36-year-old, that she loves fitness and practices it in some form daily. You need only to google “Carrie Underwood’s legs” to find several workouts by fans hoping to emulate her chiseled body.
“That is a passion of mine, and I’ve been falling more and more in love with it over the past 15 years really,”she told Today. “People would say, ‘You should write a book,’ because I really love health and fitness, and I geek out over articles and trends and things like that, so we went for it just to see how it would turn out.”
The Before He Cheats pop star made clear in her morning show appearance that, if readers take away nothing else from her book, it’s that they – their bodies, their mental health – are precious and deserve daily care.
“You are important,” Underwood said. “Of course your babies are important, your family is important, but you are important, and if you don’t have your balance, everything else is out of balance. So give yourself 30 minutes, 20 minutes, an hour –– whatever you can spare to do something for yourself, to keep you healthy, to keep you around longer.”
‘Find Your Path’ reveals her fitness and diet secrets
In her new book, Underwood provides readers with recipes, workout programs, a workout journal, and meal plans and guidelines. She offers a peek into her own methods for staying fit and finding balance in her life.
In addition, the book introduces her Fit52 workout, with a deck of cards and exercises you can do anywhere. Her book’s publication coincides with the launch of hew new fitness app, fit52. The app is free to download and has a monthly subscription fee.
“I feel like it’s all about practical choices, nothing in the book or in the app or anything is weird or unattainable, it’s practical,” Underwood told USA Today this week. “That’s what it’s all about.”
Her ‘Ugly Lasagna’ recipe
Underwood debuted one of her favorite healthy recipes, Ugly Lasagna.
“This is my healthier take on a comforting classic,” she said Tuesday. “I call it my “ugly” lasagna because when you scoop it out of the slow cooker into a bowl, it’s not all nicely layered. It’s just a big pile of comfort food!
The recipe calls for use of your slow cooker, no-boil whole wheat lasagna noodles, onions, peppers, spinach, low-fat cheese, and pasta sauce, all layered in your cooker.
Cook on low for four hours and you’ve got a healthy meal. Ugly, but healthy!
