Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are unique among the Teen Mom cast. The couple opted to give their first child up for adoption at birth. Since then, for nearly 16 years ago, MTV has followed their adoption story. While the couple often didn’t agree with adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, they did maintain some contact. That contact has since been cut off as things took a rather dramatic turn in recent months.

Both Lowell and Baltierra have used their social media presence to speak out against Carly’s adoptive parents and adoption in general. Now, Lowell has revealed that Carly’s parents have decided to close the adoption completely and have asked the duo to stop sending gifts and updates. The new update has led to many fan questions, so let’s look back at the couple’s original adoption agreement.

The Teen Mom couple have maintained that they don’t know exactly why the Davises have closed the adoption, although they’ve shared their theories on social media.

What was the original adoption agreement?

Catelynn and Tyler have spent months insisting that the Davises went back on the original terms of Carly’s adoption. The terms were outlined during the couple’s 16 and Pregnant episode.
