Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have a unique story to tell on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. As the only couple who opted to give their first child up for adoption, they are very different from other cast members. That doesn’t mean they haven’t brought plenty of drama to the table over the years. While Lowell and Baltierra are now parents to three additional children, they’ve spent their time on MTV lamenting their decision to put their first child up for adoption. The adoption drama has been heating up for the last few months, with Lowell and Baltierra insisting Carly’s adoptive parents have blocked them. We’ve gathered all of the recent drama in one place.

MTV has followed the couple’s adoption journey over the years

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra opted to give their first child, Carly, up for adoption at birth. MTV documented the then-teens as they navigated their choices and picked Brandon and Theresa Davis to adopt their daughter. While all parties involved agreed to an open adoption, Tyler and Catelyn have proven several times over the years that they don’t quite understand what that means even today. Viewers have accused a couple of overstepping boundaries and attempting to strong-arm Carly’s parents into a relationship structure that was not part of the initial agreement.

MTV has shown Tyler and Catelynn battling with Carly’s adoptive parents after they tried to set boundaries with the TV couple. In one telling scene, Tyler grows aggressive when confronted for posting pictures of Carly on social media. The Davises had explicitly asked for their child’s photos not to be made public.

Catelynn Lowell claims Carly’s adoptive parents have blocked her

After Catelynn and Tyler gave their child up for adoption, the duo had semi-regular contact with her. Brandon and Theresa even attended the couple’s wedding with their children in tow. Still, there were spats over the years. The most recent string of drama kicked off several weeks ago when Lowell began sharing content that is largely against adoption.

More recently, she took to Instagram to allege Brandon and Theresa had blocked her phone number after a string of text messages she sent went unanswered. Fans pointed out that the TV personality appeared to be texting her eldest child’s adoptive parents every day or every other day. Catelynn shot back, insisting the adoption counselor she worked with had suggested she share regular updates about her personal life.

The couple’s fans have largely supported them. Still, many viewers argue that Catelynn and Tyler are seriously harming their eldest child by sharing her information online and openly criticizing the people who have raised her. Neither Catelynn nor Tyler seem to think Carly will be hurt by their social media campaign against her adoptive parents.

Tyler Baltierra has gone live multiple times to discuss the situation

While Catelynn has been the most vocal about her feelings in recent weeks, Tyler has also had plenty to say about the adoption and Carly’s adoptive parents over the years. Several months back, the TV personality lambasted Carly’s adoptive parents for refusing to allow them to visit with the teen this year. He went on to allege that there was nothing he could do right in their eyes.

More recently, Tyler has appeared in Live events to discuss the adoption drama. Earlier this week, he went live on Instagram to answer fan questions about the adoption drama and Carly’s adoptive parents. Baltierra insists he and Catelynn don’t know what they did “wrong” and would like a clear answer from the Davises. So far, the couple has opted to stay quiet, something Tyler and Catelynn are failing to handle well.

This story is still developing. Tyler’s most recent livestream suggested he “welcomes” legal action from his eldest child’s adoptive parents. They have yet to file for any legal protection, but as Baltierra and Lowell ramp up their verbal assault on the duo, anything is possible. The Davises have not commented publicly about the situation.
