Cedric the Entertainer Says The World Should Forgive Louis C.K.
The Indie pop group AJR song “Role Models” released in 2017, talking about how all their celebrity role models were “on TV for the wrong reasons.” This list included famous comedian Louis C.K. who came under fire when rumors of some unsettling and disturbing interactions with female comedians broke news. However, after some years, he returned to do shows in 2020 to sold-out theaters. And a friend of Louis C.K., Cedric the Entertainer, is glad to see it. Cedric thinks it’s time for the world to move on and embrace C.K. once again.
Cedric the Entertainer and Louis C.K. have a long history together
Cedric the Entertainer opened up in an interview about his thoughts on Louis C.K.
“Yeah, Louis C.K. [is] one of the great comedians, he actually used to write on my show Cedric the Entertainer Presents, so I’ve known him for many years from that space,” Cedric said on The Domenick Nati Show. “We’ve talked, we’ve developed movie ideas together.”
Celebrities and figures in the public eye have always dealt with living under a microscope. The Neighborhood star said that cancel culture has a habit of completely discarding people for their mistakes.
“And so, you know, I do think that there is a degree of forgiveness that the world has to be able to [give]. I think this idea of cancel culture is one that we have to be very careful of throwing people literally in the trashcan when they make a mistake.”
However, despite speaking out against cancel culture, Cedric still wants people held accountable.
‘The Neighborhood’ actor knows certain behaviors demand penalty
While Cedric the Entertainer disagrees with the public forever shunning actors and comedians, he did not want to excuse Louis C.K.’s actions.
“I mean, certain behavior, [it] is warranted [that it] usually comes with jail time or real penalty,” Cedric said. “In this case, where people have literally violated – personally, truly violated – people. I mean, this dude had he had some lascivious behavior if you will.”
However, Cedric wants people to try moving on once someone faces backlash and penalty.
“Again, it was one that I kind of felt like he was definitely punished and has been ostracised. And, of course, the embarrassment that comes with knowing that that’s your habit or behavior,” Cedric continued. “Sometimes, that’s just bigger than it all.”
Cedric the Entertainer is glad to see Louis C.K. coming back
While Cedric the Entertainer has starred with Max Greenfield on The Neighborhood since the Louis C.K. controversy, C.K. has tried to rebuild his career. And it seems to have worked, at least somewhat.
“C.K. may no longer be a celebrated auteur, but he still has an audience. He sold out two theater nights in D.C., and people went to great lengths to see him,” The Washington Post reported.
He might not have the massive crowd of followers he once did, but he still has an audience. And Cedric counts himself among it.
“I’m glad to see Louis C.K. back, I can just say that much,” Cedric the Entertainer said. “He’s a funny dude.”
