Celebrities Allegedly Bidding on Diddy’s Tapes to Prevent Their Names From Being Exposed
Federal agents arrested hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs for racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. And the tapes of his “freak-offs” garnered attention from the public. Combs filmed his “freak-offs” — sexual performances that often went on for days. According to Daniel Baldwin, celebrities want their hands on those tapes, as they don’t want them to emerge in the public eye.
Celebrities are allegedly in a ‘bidding war’ over Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ tapes
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “freak-off” tapes received much initial attention after his arrest. Combs allegedly taped the days-long sex parties to blackmail participants potentially. According to Daniel Baldwin, electronically recorded celebrities are now participating in a “bidding war” to get their hands on the tapes.
“He has videos — he has videos of the parties,” Baldwin said while on the PBD Podcast. “Now, what I heard — which, I don’t know how much of it is in mainstream media. I don’t really follow the story that much. But, what I’ve heard from friends that are attorneys of friends of mine that have represented me before, agents, so on, there’s a bidding war going on right now. They’re driving that price up, because if you want your client, a famous actor to not be involved, or a famous singer, to come out, here’s the price. And they’re just selling to the individuals who are in those. This is what I heard! They’re selling those videos.”
Baldwin met Combs in the past and described him as a “very nice guy, very smart. Super business. He’s very successful. And I think that there’s a duality there.”
“There is the faces that showed up at the parties, or the event that went to the big party, and then there was the late-night crowd, when everyone started going, and then the door’s got locked up, and the last 40, 30 people were there,” Baldwin continued. “… And I was never at any of those.”
Baldwin added that he heard “descriptions from people” he knew who attended the late-night parties.
A former federal prosecutor says past ‘freak-off’ participants should be scared
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani spoke to the LA Times about the case. Rahmani said any celebrity who participated in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “freak-offs” should feel concerned for themselves.
“If I were a celebrity who participated in one of Combs’ freak-offs, I would be shaking in my boots,” Rahmani said. “At best, they’re a witness in a case that is very likely going to trial. At worst, they’re a co-defendant.”
Criminal defense attorney Louis Shapiro noted that the government interviewed over 50 witnesses and served 300 warrants.
“They are very much treating this matter like a mobster case … and articulating various roles that different people played in supporting the conspiracy,” Shapiro added.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs allegedly expected his celebrity friends to support him
Sean “Diddy” Combs isn’t receiving much support from his famous friends. Several insiders alleged that his previous close buddies, like Ashton Kutcher, hope to distance themselves from Combs. A source told In Touch Weekly that Combs feels “radioactive” in the celebrity world. “… [A]nd it would social suicide to have anything to do with him,” the source says.
The insider added that Combs expected his famous friends to aid him. “He’s still in total denial and actually expected all his high-profile friends, and even his exes like J.Lo and Cameron [Diaz], to stand up for him,” the insider continued. “He can’t wrap his head around the fact that everyone’s just dropped him and wants no part of his sordid scandal.”
