Do you believe in life after love? As a renowned Cher impersonator, the drag queen Chad Michaels competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4, winning a few maxi challenge and mini challenges along the way.
After weeks of competition, Chad Michaels made it to the Top 3, along with Sharon Needles and Phi Phi O’Hara. However, Sharon Needles became the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4. As a result, Michaels went on to compete on the spinoff series, RuPaul’s Drag Race; All-Stars.
Competing alongside her teammate, this drag queen made it to the finals. Then, the “Top 2,” along with Raven. Then, Chad Michaels won All-Stars, becoming the first contestant to do so. (Other winners of this spinoff included Trixie Mattel, Shea Couleé, and Monét X Change.)
Chad Michaels appeared as Cher for several television shows and live performances
Her portrayal of Cher even won her the famous maxi-challenge on season 4 — Snatch Game. Outside of RuPaul’s Drag Race, this performer appeared as Cher in several projects, even catching the attention of the popstar.
When RuPaul created the Netflix original series, AJ and the Queen, Chad Michael portrayed a Cher impersonator, while many other drag performers made an appearance, including Jade Jolie, Katya Zamolodchikova, and Kennedy Davenport.
Chad Michaels is one of the oldest winners of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 1’
As a winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, Chad Michaels made herstory as one of the oldest winners of the series.She returned to the competition for future episodes, earning her place in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.”
“There is a multitude of people who seek to degrade and defame the contestants on [RuPaul’s Drag Race] for attributes such as their weight, looks, age, etc. I do not get discouraged by my age,” Michaels said during an interview with Equality 365.
“I love the fact that I have survived this gay life thus far,” she continued. “That’s the point, isn’t it? I am 48 years old this week and have a stellar career that spans two decades. Many can only hope for such longevity. I consider the source when it comes to ageism.”
