Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz dated for years before their surprising recent break-up. Although the exact reason is unknown, an insider hints that their relationship shifted quickly after doing this project together.

The 2024 feature Blink Twice would end up affecting both Kravitz’s professional and personal life. It was a passion project Kravitz spent a considerable amount of time writing and directing before casting Tatum as the film’s lead. The pair previously worked together in 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie. But Blink Twice brought them together more intimately, as the two started dating not long after meeting for the project. Afterward, Tatum asserted that Blink Twice only brought them closer together.

“It was the thing that cemented us in a way. We started, kind of grew a little bit right before we started filming. Then it’s like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna go do this,’” Tatum told Extra not too long ago. “It just brought us together.”

So much so that Tatum suggested other potential couples might benefit from having a similar experience.

“That’s the only piece of dating advice that I’ll ever give anybody. If you have a partner, and you’re thinking about, ‘Is this the one for me?’ Go find the hardest possible project that you can find together,” Tatum added.

The pair dated for three years after meeting for Blink Twice, even announcing their engagement in October 2023. But sources reported that Kravitz and Tatum went their separate ways on October 29, 2024 — one month after Blink Twice’s official release. An insider reported to Us Weekly (via Contact Music) that they realized they were incompatible after promoting the very film that brought them together.

“Ultimately once the project ended, they saw they were on different pages with what they wanted. It fizzled fast after their press tour wrapped,” the insider said.

As for why they broke up, People recently claimed that geography was one reason they couldn’t make their relationship work.

“Channing spends a lot of time in Los Angeles because of his daughter, but Zoë prefers N.Y.C.,” a source told the publication.

Tatum’s daughter is one he shares with his ex-wife Jenna Dewan. The pair divorced in October 2018, after nine years of marriage.

It seems that there’s no animosity between Tatum and Kravitz after going their separate ways. Another source alleged that their break-up was an amicable process with little to no bearing on their friendship.

“There was no dramatic falling out between Channing and Zoë. They really just grew apart and decided it was best for them to go their separate ways,” a source reassured Page Six.

The source further noted that the two keep in touch despite their breakup, having each other’s best interest at heart.

“[Tatum] understands that these things happen and just wants them to both be happy,” the source added.

If reports are true, Kravitz and Tatum maintaining contact might make things easier when they join forces again. In addition to Blink Twice, the former couple is supposed to be working on another project titled Alpha Gang. From what little is known about the upcoming film, the alien sci-fi movie will reportedly see the pair join other stars like Cate Blanchett and Dave Bautista. Tatum’s romance with Kravitz may have fizzled out. But their joint passion for creating art hasn’t.

“They will continue to work together and are excited about a new project. They both love filming and creating. Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë’s focus and passion,” an insider alleged.
