Jada Pinkett Smith confirms past relationship with August Alsina

Alsina sat down with Angela Yee and gave his account of his relationship with Jada. According to the singer, Will gave him his blessing to pursue Jada as the two were “transitioning from marriage to a life partnership” and lacked romanticism. For Alsina, Jada was the great love of his life. He ended the relationship after a few years, feeling it no longer served him well.

Jada confirmed the relationship with Alsina as she sat with Will on her popular Facebook show, Red Table Talk. She and Will claimed they were separated at the time that Jada entered into an “entanglement” with Alsina. Jada and Alsina were close friends who met through her son, Jaden. Alsina approached her in need of help to fight off his addictions and stabilize his mental health. At some point, their relationship became romantic.

Jada explained that she was broken at the time and “wanted to feel good.” She also admitted that she has an issue with codependency and the desire to help people is what attracted her to Alsina.

“I had to learn to break [my codependency] in this cycle, the idea of needing to fix and being drawn to people that need help…whether it’s your health, or whether it’s your addictions – there’s something about that childhood trauma that feels as though it can be fixed through fixing people versus fixing me,” she told her husband.

Jada confirmed that it was Alsina who ended their relationship and cut off all communication with her when he became suspicious of her and Will potentially reconciling. She said she has not spoken to Alsina since.

Charlamagne Tha God says Jada Pinkett Smith took advantage of August Alsina and that she and Will Smith are not setting a good example of marriage

Social media users did not go easy on Jada after coming clean about her time with Alsina. She’s been accused of taking advantage of Alsina while in his most vulnerable state and throwing him away when she no longer felt she needed him. One person who agrees with that notion is Charlamagne. He tore into Jada during a discussion about her revelation on The Breakfast Club

Charlamagne particularly took issue as he believes Jada should have used better judgment, considering Alsina’s age and mental state.

“Jada Pinkett Smith was dead a** wrong. August Alsina, that young man came to her broken, in need of healing, and her response is ‘I wanted to feel good, I hadn’t felt good in a long time’ so you slept with him,” Charlamagne began. “Nevermind how that young man is feeling, you know? You just gotta get yours? That is the epitome of toxic behavior.”

Furthermore, Charlemagne accused Jada of hypocrisy, noting that she uses the show as a platform to promote healing and accountability, yet the situation with Alsina indicates that she lacks the tools as she is not in the best place herself.

He also took a  jab at the Smiths marriage, calling into question whether or not they are a couple that others should model.

“What I hated about that conversation the most was the ending…when they hit us with that corny ‘We ride together, we die together, bad marriage for life,’” Charlamagne snapped. “What was that? What kind of message was that sending? Just stick together for the sake of being together, don’t try to make your marriage healthy, don’t try to get to a place of wholeness in your marriage?”

Overall, Charlamagne was adamant that Jada used Alsina for her own pleasure, causing an already broken man in search of love and acceptance even more pain.
