Charli XCX Wants to Collaborate With Vernon of Seventeen
Charli XCX wants to collaborate with Vernon of the K-pop group Seventeen, and now it’s all we can think about. On Feb. 7, Charli XCX tweeted at Seventeen’s official account for the collaboration to happen. This is not the first time the two artists have interacted on Twitter.
Charli XCX asked to collaborate with Seventeen’s Vernon
On Feb. 6, Charli XCX posted a tweet asking fans what artist they might want to see featured on a remix of Charli XCX’s song with Rina Sawayama, “Beg For You.”
After Carat, Seventeen’s fan base, mentioned Vernon as a possibility, Charli XCX tweeted, “how do i get in touch with Vernon??”
The singer then wrote another tweet, saying, “hi @pledis_17 wanna collab?”
Seventeen’s account replied back, “YES still can’t believe this is real wow.”
Seventeen fans reacted to the Twitter exchange
After Vernon seemingly replied to Charli XCX’s collaboration proposition, Seventeen fans shared their excitement for the possible collaboration on social media.
“Now we wait,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Another fan wrote on Reddit, “SO EXCITING.”
“HE MUST BE SO HAPOY ABT THIS,” a Reddit user wrote.
This is not the first time Charli XCX and Vernon interacted on Twitter
In May 2021, W Magazine interviewed Seventeen members Vernon and Joshua about being in the group. During the interview, Vernon admitted that he is a big fan of Charli XCX.
“I’m in the hip-hop unit, but I still sing in the shower,” he told W Magazine.
When asked what he sings, Vernon replied, “Charli XCX! We definitely get our inspiration from American pop.”
After the W Magazine article was published, Charli XCX shared it on Twitter, prompting Vernon to thank her.
Charli XCX has worked with artists under HYBE Labels before
Seventeen debuted with Pledis Entertainment in 2015. The band has 13 members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino.
In addition to performing as a group of 13, the members are also split up into three different sub-units: hip-hop, vocal, and performance.
Pledis Entertainment was acquired by HYBE in 2020 and currently resides under HYBE Labels. Charli XCX has worked with multiple artists under HYBE Labels in the past.
In 2019, the singer appeared on a track called “Dream Glow” with Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook of BTS for the BTS World: Original Soundtrack.
Charli XCX is also a songwriter and has written songs on her own albums and for other artists. In 2020, she co-wrote the song “We Lost the Summer” which appeared on Tomorrow X Together’s EP minisode1: Blue Hour. Both BTS and TXT are signed with Big Hit Music, another label under HYBE.
