There’s no competition when it comes to the Daredevil television show versus the Daredevil movie. The Netflix series, which recently moved to Disney+, will win every time. Marvel fans are very passionate about their love for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, while they would rather forget about Ben Affleck’s film. And according to Charlie Cox himself, he also is not a fan of the Daredevil movie.

Charlie Cox does not like Ben Affleck’s ‘Daredevil’

The Ben Affleck-led Daredevil film hit theaters in 2003. And although it was a box office success, many fans and critics gave it negative reviews.

While speaking at the Middle East Film & Comic Con 2022 in Abu Dhabi (via Variety), Charlie Cox clarified his feelings about the Daredevil film.

“I watched it once, and then I wanted to go and do my own thing,” the actor revealed. “I hadn’t seen it before I got the role, I watched it when I got the role.” Cox reassured that Affleck is “a really good Matt Murdock.”

He concluded, “I like his Matt Murdock. I don’t love the movie. I feel like the movie tried to do too much, and it was a little tonally confused. They had everyone in that movie — they had Kingpin, they had Bullseye, they had Elektra, they had Karen Page, they had Foggy. It was saturated, and it’s two hours. So that was part of that problem. And the suit sucks!”

Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox, incorporated all of the movie’s elements over the course of three seasons. And that’s probably why fans love the series so much and hate the film.

Charlie Cox reprised his role as Daredevil in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Fans were devastated when they learned that Netflix canceled Daredevil in 2018 after only three seasons. They later discovered that the cancelation likely had to do with Disney starting up its own streaming service, but they were heartbroken, nevertheless.

For the past few years, fans have been campaigning for Disney to revive Daredevil. And their wish sort of came true when Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Unfortunately, rumors and leaks spoiled his cameo for many fans, but theaters worldwide went wild anyway when they saw Daredevil’s return. Matt served as Peter Parker’s lawyer in a short scene toward the film’s beginning. And the tease was enough for fans to crave more.

What will the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen do next in the MCU?

Charlie Cox confirmed that he is officially returning to his role as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, neither he nor Marvel is eager to reveal where fans can see the vigilante next.

“I don’t know what their plans are, but yes, my hope is that I get to do as much as I’m allowed to do and to be involved,” Cox told Supanova Comic Con & Gaming. “And it’d be really fun. The one thing that being in the MCU allows that we couldn’t really do with the Netflix stuff is that I can now interact with other MCU characters. So, that would be really cool. Crossovers is the thing I would like to do next.”

The actor continued, “I don’t know what that looks like, and I don’t know what they’re planning and all that kind of stuff. But there are some really interesting stories there that I’d love for the character to explore.”

All three seasons of Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox, are now streaming on Disney+.
