Stokes and Cline share chemistry on-screen, but their fictional relationship has developed into a very real one.
Contrary to popular belief, the two met on the set of Outer Banks. Some fans thought that because they both had small roles in Stranger Things, they met on the set of that Netflix series. Stokes says otherwise.
“We actually never met [on Stranger Things],” Stokes told Life & Style. He actually met Cline just “a week and a half or two weeks” before shooting began on Outer Banks.
Stokes “let the cat out of the bag” on June 14, sharing photos of he and Cline enjoying a beach-front dinner together as a couple.
Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes are both rising stars
Before landing the role of Sarah Cameron on Outer Banks, Cline had a brief role in season 2 of Stranger Things. When Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) first made his appearance, Cline’s character, Tina, fawned over him, saying: “Would you check out that a*s? Just look at it go.”
Before that, Cline was in films like Boy Erased and The Giant, as well as TV shows like Vice Principals and The Originals.
Like Cline, Stokes has an impressive acting portfolio. He had a brief part in season 1 of Stranger Things, playing a “jerk” named Reed. As Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) prepare to take down the monsters in the Upside Down, a car goes zooming by with none other than Stokes’ character, Reed.
Outside of Stranger Things, Stokes starred in the series Daytime Divas and movies like Between Waves and The Beach House. Stokes will also play TJ Forrester in the Peacock adaption of Karen M. McManus’ novel One of Us Is Lying.
The future looks bright for Madelyn and Chase
Outer Banks has demonstrated that Stokes and Cline can be versatile with their talent. Stokes has become known as a heartthrob, but he has expressed wanting to act in more serious roles.
“To be [considered a heartthrob] is awesome,” Stokes told TMRW. “For me, it’s about continuing to push the bar and do work that is ever-changing.” Stokes will get the chance to do that in the Peacock adaptation of One of Us Is Lying.
As for Cline, she has completed work on a project titled What Breaks the Ice. She also has a role in Once Upon a Time in Staten Island.
What’s more, both actors will return for season 2 of Outer Banks.
