Since Netflix debuted the cheerleading docuseries Cheer, we’ve barely been able to retain our emotions. The compelling series follows the 2019 Navarro College Cheer Team on their quest to win the National Cheerleaders Association National Championships.

To say that the show is addictive would be an understatement. Standout team members, Jerry Harris, La’Darius Marshall, Lexi Brumback, Gabi Butler, and Morgan Simianer among many others have won our hearts with their backstories, dedication to the team, and their amazing talent.

Cheerleading is often thought of as a fluffy sport. However, the Navarro Cheer team and their amazing coach, Monica Aldama, have proven that the sport is way more than that. Now, we’ve just gotten an update on Cheer castmember, Lexi Brumback, and it’s making us smile even more.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Netflix’s ‘Cheer’?

When we first saw the trailer for Cheer we thought it was intriguing enough. However, we had no idea the six-episode series would be so compelling and pull on our heartstrings the way that it did. Director Greg Whiteley not only nails down the history of the sport and how it had evolved, but he also sits with all of his subjects, from Coach Aldama to the kids, unpacking who they are and learning more about their backstories.

There is a ton of drama in the show as well, and it’s not superficial. The grim reality is that there is no real professional cheerleading world. After college, most people are forced to leave the sport behind.

Also, there is a great chance for catastrophic injuries with people getting thrown in the air, and the tumbling and jumping.

Inside Lexi Brumback’s rocky path

Though she was initially a loner from Houston, Texas who felt isolated from her Navarro Cheer teammates — over the course of her time on the squad, Brumback became a vital member of the team. Also, her talent and her tumbling abilities are insane.

In Episode 1 she says, “If I wouldn’t have came here, I’d be sitting in a jail cell right about now.”

At the end of Season 1 of Cheer, while most of the team members had a bright path or happy ending — Brumback found herself in a bit of hot water that led to her being kicked off the Navarro College team. It was not the ending that Brumback or Aldama wanted, but rules are rules. When the season closed, Brumback was back at home in Houston, partying on a regular basis and ignoring her responsibilities.

Lexi Brumback is back on the Navarro College Cheer Team

Though she was kicked off the team after she was found in a car with illegal substances, Brumback stayed close to Monica Aldama. “I want to help as many kids as I can. That’s the reason I do this job,” Aldama said in the season finale.

Thankfully, it looks like Brumback is back on the right path and on the 2020 Novarro College Cheer Team. In an adorable photo with her Navarro Cheer teammates  TT Barker, Dillon Brandt, and Jeremiah Harris, Brumback pouted her lips and captioned it, “Honey, I’m home 🍯😘 #fiofmu.” Onbe fan asked “ARE YOU BACK?!?,” Brumback wrote, “yes”

Now we just need Cheer Season 2.
