Cher Says Christopher Meloni Is Not Her Type — ‘Not Even for a Minute’
Cher has been entertaining audiences since the early days of the ’70s show Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. The “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer, who turns 75 this year, has captivated fans with her iconic looks and sassy style. The diva, who has dated her fair share of A-list celebrities, recently sat down with CBS late-night talk show host James Corden. The two casually chatted about dating, and Cher revealed her secret to attracting men. When asked about her recent Tweet involving Christopher Meloni, the legendary performer made it clear that the Law & Order: SVU star was not her type.
A woman who needs little introduction
There are very few people who don’t know that Cher is a timeless and legendary performer. The iconic song “I Got You, Babe” will forever immortalize her love affair with her now-deceased ex-husband, Sonny Bono. Sonny and Cher sold millions of records together, performing to sold-out crowds. In 1969, they gave birth to Chaz Bono, who was later introduced on their successful variety show. When the marriage ended in 1975, Cher launched a solo career that eventually crossed over into a vast array of successful film roles.
The black-haired beauty won an Oscar in 1988 for the movie Moonstruck. Cher spent the next several decades reinventing herself, managing to stay relevant in an ever-changing industry. In 2018, she released Dancing Queen, which was her 26th studio album. The Grammy Award-winning legend recently appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden to promote Cher & the Loneliest Elephant, an upcoming Paramount+ documentary.
What the famous performer had to say about Christopher Meloni
The “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves” performer recently took to Twitter to confess her admiration for Meloni, the star of Law & Order: SVU. The all-caps Tweet referred to Meloni as an excellent and charismatic actor. In the late-night interview, Corden teased the diva, asking her if Meloni was her type. Cher whole-heartedly replied, “not even for a minute.” Entertainment Weekly explained that Meloni had just returned as Eliot Stabler in a Law & Order a spinoff series that recently debuted on NBC.
Cher defended her Tweet, telling Corden, “I think that it’s an excellent show, and underrated, and the acting is really good. And I thought that he added something to the show – to SVU – that kind of left. And so when I saw him in his show I thought, ‘Good on you,’ and, ‘You’re good,’ and ‘I’m glad you’re back, doing a show,’ and whatever.”
After explaining herself, the Witches of Eastwick actor sighed when Corden questioned if there was more to her Tweet than just respect for Meloni’s acting. Exasperated, Cher said, “I knew you were going to say that.” When Corden asked Cher what her type was, she said it was too personal of a topic. She then jokingly said, “I’m not telling you because you’re such a big blabbermouth.”
Cher knows how to keep a man’s attention
In the same interview, BestLife reported that Cher told the late-night host that “if you smell like dessert, men won’t forget you.” Corden told the iconic performer, “you smell like a million dollars,” and she offhandedly replied, “I know.” Cher explained that she was wearing her new award-winning fragrance called Cher Eau De Couture, which took her four years to create.
Allure enjoyed the legendary performer’s new dessert-inspired scent saying, “More than anything, Cher Eau de Couture is an adventure that keeps you guessing. It starts off a little standoffish but then warms up to you, showing a different side of itself completely. It’s edgy, then sweet. Chilly, then warm. Cautious, then inviting. Like Cher herself, it’s timeless, ever-changing, and a definite crowd-pleaser.”
