- Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, and other key cast members will return.
Hallmark Channel is visiting the shore one last time. The network has renewed Chesapeake Shores for a sixth and final season. Here’s what fans need to know, including when the show’s final episodes might air.
Hallmark Channel canceled ‘Chesapeake Shores’ after six seasons
On March 29, Hallmark announced it had renewed Chesapeake Shores for season 6. The upcoming season will be the last for the show, which premiered in 2016.
“The news is finally here! #ChesapeakeShores is coming back for a sixth, albeit final, season. Stay tuned for all the laughter, love,” the network revealed in a tweet.
Chesapeake Shores Season 6 doesn’t yet have a premiere date. However, Hallmark has said that the new season – which will have 10 episodes – will air sometime in the summer of 2022.
Meghan Ory and other ‘Chesapeake Shores’ cast members to return for the final season
Chesapeake Shores follows the lives of Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory) and her family, who live in a small town on Maryland’s coast. Ory will return as Abby, TVLine reports. Other returning cast members include Treat Williams as Abby’s father Mick O’Brien, Barbara Niven as her mother Megan, and Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, and Andrew Francis as her siblings Jess, Bree, Kevin, and Connor.
Robert Buckley, who joined the Chesapeake Shores cast in season 5 as a potential love interest for Abby, will reprise his role as eccentric billionaire Evan Kincaid in season 6. But it appears that the role of Connor’s love interest has been recast. In a behind-the-scenes video shared on Instagram, Francis revealed that Mariesa Crouse has stepped into the role of Margaret Keller. The character was played by Raylene Harewood in season 5.
Barbara Niven says next season will the ‘best ever’
So far, Hallmark hasn’t revealed any details about what’s in store for the O’Briens after last season’s cliffhanger ending. However, Francis’ social media posts suggest that Connor will survive his apparent heart attack, which happened in the last moments of the season 5 finale.
Hallmark promised in a tweet that the show will go out “on a high note,” adding that the series is “reaching a natural conclusion.”
The cast has hinted that fans will be pleased with the way the series wraps up the O’Brien family’s story.
“Blown away by the words we got to say and the stories we are telling,” Niven tweeted shortly after the renewal was announced. “I think you will be blown away too. Best season ever.”
