Kelly Severide begins having second thoughts about marrying Stella Kidd
During Chicago Fire Season 9 Episode 15 (titled “A White-Knuckle Panic”), things are changing between Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly (Taylor Kinney). In the last episode, Kelly told Matt that he was thinking of talking to Stella about marriage. However, Kelly is starting to have doubts. “I’ve been rethinking things,” Kelly tells Matt. “This marriage idea. Maybe it’s not the best move.”
Matt says it’s just nerves getting the best of him, but Kelly says that’s not it. He says when they first started dating, Stella told him she doesn’t want to get married again because she doesn’t want to be in a situation where she can’t leave when she wants. Matt says Kelly shouldn’t worry because that was a long time ago, but Kelly doesn’t seem convinced.
Things turn around after Kelly and Stella respond to a fire. At one point, Stella ran in to look for Kelly. He tells her she didn’t have to do that, but Stella says she did and that she will never leave him. That’s when Kelly knew this is the woman he should marry. He gets down on one knee, in the middle of a burning building, and proposes. Stella accepts. Stellaride is officially engaged.
Joe Cruz makes a big decision
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) and his wife, Chloe, look for a new home. Now that they’re expecting a child, they need a bigger place to live. The only problem is, Joe doesn’t have enough money to put in an offer the buyer is satisfied with.
A big break comes for Joe after he helps a pilot, Mark Newcomb, escape from his plane (the plane was dangling from the side of a building). Mark is so grateful that he vows to help Joe fund the Slamigan, his product for firefighters.
He keeps telling Joe he can help him change his life and get rich, but Joe isn’t completely sold on the idea of taking his company to the next level and becoming a CEO. Taking this step would mean he would have to leave the Chicago Fire Department.
“Do you want to be a firefighter, or do you want to be rich,” says Mark, who offers him $5 million dollars so he can set up a company. Joe looks around at Mark’s beautiful home and ponders his question. However, he realizes he must be true to himself. Joe decides to decline Mark’s business proposal.
Unfortunately, Mark won’t take no for an answer. He shows up at the firehouse and tells Joe that he wants the Slamigan. He also threatens him, saying they have an oral contract, so Joe has no choice but to go through with the business deal.
Later on, Joe and two other firefighters show up at Mark’s home. Joe tells Mark to back off or he will see another side of him he won’t like very much. It looks like Mark won’t be bothering Joe anymore.
Matt shares his true feelings with Sylvie
Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) catch up and have a chat. Sylvie tells him she misses her cat (Veronicat), who was accidentally sold during the annual firehouse garage sale. Suddenly, Matt gets a message that his ex, Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund), is on the phone for him. Unfortunately, Sylvie is there when Matt gets the message. The hurt in her eyes is clear. She tells him to tell Gabby she says hello, and she walks away.
Matt later tells Sylvie that Gabby only called because she heard about Mouch’s medal ceremony. She wanted to send her regards. However, Sylvie is still bothered by the fact that Matt and Gabby are talking.
Matt and Gabby talk again after Mouch’s ceremony. Matt tells Sylvie his conversation with Gabby helped him realize what he really wants. Matt then tells Sylvie he’s in love with her. Sylvie doesn’t respond. We’ll have to wait until next time to see how this all goes down.
