Chicago Fire Season 10 is coming soon, and fans can’t wait to see who returns in the cast of Chicago Fire in 2021. Chicago Fire Season 9 left on a cliffhanger regarding the crew in Rescue Squad 3. So, who makes it out alive from the tense water rescue? According to Chicago Fire Season 10 cast photos, only two members out of four from the water rescue mission are featured in new cast photos.
Rescue Squad 3 was trapped in a capsized boat in the season 9 finale
Chicago Fire Season 10 will likely begin right where season 9 left off. TV Insider reminds us Chicago Fire Season 9 left off with an extremely tense water rescue for the crew of Rescue Squad 3. The members of Squad 3 include firefighter and company officer Lieutenant Kelly Severide, firefighter Joe Cruz, firefighter Tony Ferraris, and firefighter Harold Capp.
The four members of Rescue Squad 3 dive into the sea as they try to rescue a man sinking on a capsized boat. While they initially nearly give up on saving the man on the boat, they hear a knock that alerts them to a door. They find a door and the man on the boat — but the mission is far from complete. The boat then moves and the cargo onboard blocks their way out, trapping them within.
The finale leaves fans wondering about the fates of everyone involved in the water rescue. We’re left with the image of the water rising and all four members of Rescue Squad 3 trapped within.

We’re unsure of the fates of Rescue Squad 3. And TV Insider reports new cast photos reveal the casts of the upcoming seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. According to the Chicago Fire Season 10 cast photos, two of the four Rescue Squad 3 members on the capsized boat mission are missing.
The publication shows Joe Cruz’s cast photo as well as Kelly Severide’s. But Tony Ferraris and Harold Capp are missing.
Could this mean Ferraris and Capp won’t make it out of the capsized boat alive? It’s too soon to tell what happens. But a teaser for the new season shows the Rescue Squad 3 members all gasping for air in a tiny air pocket in the boat. This should give some fans hope they all make it out alive.
When is the ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 release date?
When does Chicago Fire return in 2021? Chicago Fire Season 10 premieres Sept. 22, 2021, on NBC, along with the two other One Chicago shows, Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. The Chicago Med Season 7 premiere kicks off the night at 8 p.m. EST. Then, Chicago Fire Season 10 begins at 9 p.m. EST, and Chicago P.D. finishes off the night with its season 9 premiere at 10 p.m. EST.
We’re sure the season premiere of Chicago Fire will kick off right where the cliffhanger left us. And actor David Eigenberg (firefighter Christopher Herrmann) spoke to CinemaBlend about what it’s like when production kills characters off on the show, which could be a clue for what’s to come.
“You never know on this show!” Eigenberg said. “They’re dropping. They drop, they kill, they disappear. But you know, it’s always heartbreak when somebody does go, and I’m not gonna say anything about any[thing], but we’ve had nothing but beautiful moments of longing and sadness whenever someone has left the show. And I hope that I have that when I’m gone.”
