Chicago Fire actor Hanako Greensmith was bumped up to a series regular for season 10. Since then, her character Violet Mikami appears to be growing in popularity. Violet is a skilled paramedic in Ambulance 61. In season 10, she also becomes romantically involved with Paramedic Field Chief Evan Hawkins. Greensmith teased what’s to come for her character, including an episode where Violet’s skills can really shine.

Violet starts dating Chief Hawkins in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10

Chicago Fire Season 10 introduced Chief Hawkins, who immediately takes notice of Violet. While Violet’s usual partner Sylvie Brett is away, Hawkins fills in for her. He witnesses Violet resuscitating a baby and afterward she is honored with the Clinical Resuscitation Award.

However, Violet worries that Hawkins only gave her the award because he has feelings for her. While Hawkins assures her that she earned the award through her own merits, it’s clear that he is also attracted to Violet. The pair finally get together in “Show of Force.” Later Violet begins receiving special treatment from Hawkins, though she never asked for it.

Hanko Greensmith teases an incident where Violet’s skills will shine

Special treatment aside, Violet is clearly a skilled paramedic. In one episode in Chicago Fire Season 10, she realizes that a very distressed man has a bug stuck in his ear and carefully pulls it out. “Oh my God, oh, [the roach] was so bad,” Greensmith recalled in an interview with TV Insider.

She also discussed the scene where Violet resuscitates an infant with Chief Hawkins. “I will say the baby incident was definitely my favorite this season and definitely the most challenging for me as an actor and as a character, so that was really fulfilling,” Greensmith said.

Greensmith also teased that Violet has another skill that has not yet been showcased. “You are going to see a different kind of ambo incident later on in the season, which sheds light a little bit more on Violet’s particular specific talent which was a great deal of fun to shoot,” she told TV Insider.

Greensmith hints at conflict between Violet and Brett

In the same interview, Greensmith hinted at what the relationship between friends Violet and Brett will look like for the rest of this season. “Brett and Violet go through some relatively unpleasant calls in more ways than one, as per usual, and you’re going to see them bond over some of those difficulties and obstacles they have to go through,” she told TV Insider.

“Also you’re going to see them, for the first time, have a little bit of conflict, which I think is really important to the growth of their characters and their relationship together,” Greensmith added. It appears that this conflict is already beginning. In Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 14, the special treatment that Hawkins gives Ambulance 61 clearly makes Brett uncomfortable.

Brett warns Violet that she needs to tell Hawkins not to give them special treatment because people might get upset. Violet is clearly starting to feel some judgment from Brett. At the end of the episode, she tells her friend she isn’t going to Hawkins that night, which turns out to be untrue.
