‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 Leaves Fans Unhappy With the Direction of Stella Kidd’s Character
Miranda Rae Mayo’s character Stella Kidd has been absent from several episodes of Chicago Fire Season 10. Kidd has been busy pursuing her Girls on Fire program, which is definitely a worthwhile cause. While many fans love Miranda Rae Mayo and enjoy Kidd as a character, they can’t get on board with the direction the writers are going this season. Kidd abandoning Severide, her co-workers, and her job is a lot to stomach.
Where is Stella Kidd in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10?
Kidd has been missing from a few episodes of Chicago Fire Season 10. The firefighter took a temporary leave of absence to work on the Girls on Fire program in Boston. The program has been an important storyline in the last few seasons. Girls on Fire focuses on promoting firefighting as a career for women. Kidd clearly loves the work she does, and her goal is an important one.
However, Kidd has sacrificed a lot for Girls on Fire. As Chief Boden points out, her leave of absence has turned out to be much longer than originally anticipated. Kidd disappears at an important time in her career. In the fall finale, Boden offers Jason Pelham the full-time lieutenant’s position on Truck 81, a position that Kidd was originally in the running for.
To make matters worse, Severide can’t even vouch for Kidd because she has gone radio silent on him. Kidd definitely has a lot on her plate, but she could at least manage to text back her fiance.
Fans are unhappy with the direction Stella Kidd is headed
Understandably, many fans are unhappy with the writing for Stella Kidd in Chicago Fire Season 10. It’s hard to have much sympathy for a character who abandons her job, co-workers, and relationship.
“I love Miranda Rae Mayo….but I hate what they’re doing with Kidd. Who the f*** just goes radio silent during a HUGE moment in their career?” a fan wondered on Reddit.
“I agree with you. I think she’s always been a great character and I’ve always loved her but not even just going radio silent Severide but even the Boden. He’s been like a second father-daughter and she knows she just became a lieutenant,” another fan commented. “I don’t know just to continue taking more and more time I mean you can get fired from that for jobs called job abandonment.”
Some fans are even happy that Pelham has stepped in to take her place. “Agreed. She’s been gone so long I honestly kinda forgot about her. And I like Pelham, so I’m glad he’s sticking around,” a Reddit user added to the thread.
Will fans see more of Stella Kidd in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10?
Kidd only appeared for a brief moment at the end of the Chicago Fire Season 10 fall finale. Luckily, this won’t be the last fans will see of her this season. In fact, it looks like episode 10 will pick back up with Kidd’s storyline. “That’s all we get for now,” executive producer/showrunner Derek Haas exclusively told Parade.com.
“But we’re going to pick up on the other side of the holiday break with the scene that would follow immediately after that. I’m not saying it’s going to smooth sailing for Stella, but watching Miranda again is fun for me.” Hopefully, Kidd will have a good explanation for why she has been gone for so long.
