Matt Casey’s goodbye during Chicago Fire Season 10 wasn’t unexpected, but it still disappointed fans. So, where is Matt Casey going now that he made his exit during episode 200? The show explained the two sons of late firefighter Andy Darden needed help. Ben and Griffin, the sons, needed a guardian — and while Casey offered for them to move to Chicago, the school system suggested that might be too much of an adjustment for the boys. So, Casey decided to move to Oregon to care for them.
Ultimately, Casey decides to make the move — and Chicago Fire episode 200 is largely spent sending him on his way. He tells Sylvie Brett about the situation, of course. The two decide they’ll attempt to have a long-distance relationship at first, as Brett doesn’t want to move to Oregon just yet.

Matt Casey and Gabby Dawson (played by Monica Raymund) sustained a relationship through seven seasons of the show. But by Chicago Fire Season 10, they were old news, as the two divorced and Dawson left the show.
As for why they broke up, things got complicated between the characters. Shortly after their engagement, Dawson found she was pregnant with Casey’s child. Sadly, in season 4, Dawson lost the baby, and Casey supported her through that process.
The couple later married in season 5 so they could adopt a child, but they gave the child to the biological father in the end. Then, Dawson wanted to have another baby, but Casey pushed her not to do it, as she had a medical condition that would make the pregnancy difficult. Eventually, the couple drifted and divorced, and Dawson’s only had minor roles on the show since.
Will Gabby Dawson return to the show? Raymund teased the idea following Casey’s exit. “I love Derek [Haas], he’s my boy,” she said about the showrunner, according to Deadline. “I never close the door on Gabriela Dawson. The door is always open. I never say no to an opportunity to tell stories.”
Will Matt Casey ever come back after his ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10 exit?
With Gabby Dawson’s possible future return, will Matt Casey ever come back to Chicago Fire? Deadline reports Spencer discussed the idea, as the showrunner would love to see him return.
“And there’s always a chance I’ll come back, too,” Spencer said. “We’re still toying with the ‘Will Casey come back?’ That’s a possibility, you know. Derek and I talked about that and it’s a possibility for me too.”
Casey will likely return for Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd’s eventual wedding. And fans are curious to see how his long-distance relationship with Sylvie Brett pans out. If Dawson also returns, it could throw a wrench into the romance.
