Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 5 saw Matt Casey leave the firehouse for the foreseeable future. Jesse Spencer played Matt Casey, and it seems the actor wanted to move on to new projects and focus on his family life. Now, the show introduced fans to Matt Casey’s replacement, Lieutenant Jason Pelham (played by actor Brett Dalton). But the showrunner hinted Pelham isn’t here to stay.

Fans watching Chicago Fire Season 10 are still reeling over Matt Casey leaving the show. Chicago Fire Episode 200 showed Casey’s difficult decision to head to Oregon for three years. And in the meantime, Lieutenant Jason Pelham stepped in to replace Casey.

Joe Cruz actor Joe Minoso teased Pelham’s entrance early on, TV Insider notes. Minoso noted the new lieutenant is “going to manifest itself in a really fascinating way, especially with Gallo [Alberto Rosende] and Mouch [Christian Stolte]. It’s a really great, great fun arc.”

In Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 8 airing Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, we’ll continue to see Pelham struggle to get on Blake Gallo’s good side. One Chicago Center notes the new episode centers on the tension between Pelham and Gallo. While the two were able to come to an understanding in episode 7, tensions seem to rise between them once again after Gallo fails to follow orders directed by Pelham. Additionally, it seems this may lead to Wallace Boden considering whether Pelham should stay.

The showrunner hinted Brett Dalton’s character, Lieutenant Jason Pelham, won’t stick around much longer

While Lieutenant Jason Pelham is adding a new storyline and new conflicts to Chicago Fire Season 10, it seems he’s never meant to stay long. Showrunner Derek Haas hinted to TV Insider that the storyline regarding who will actually take over Truck 81 will be a “major storyline” that goes on “through the winter break.” This likely means the search for Matt Casey’s replacement is far from over. And it also gives a clue that Pelham may get the boot from the firehouse.

A number of viewers think Stella Kidd may return to take over. She passed the lieutenant’s test and is currently working on projects of her own, but Casey’s exit may bring her back.

“That becomes a story going forward because the spot on Truck 81 is potentially open and she hasn’t come back to claim it as of the next episode,” Haas added.

Additionally, One Chicago Center notes Haas said fans can expect to see Kidd again “before the end of this calendar year.” Because the storyline of who will take over Truck 81 is also projected to last through the winter break, Kidd’s return may line up perfectly.
