Chicago Fire Season 10 has come with a number of ups and downs for fans thus far. In episode 200, viewers saw Matthew Casey exit the show, and the end of his storyline left fans with more questions than answers. Now, viewers are wondering what’s going on with Stella Kidd, as she’s noticeably absent. So, where’s Stella now? And could she possibly take over as captain for Truck 81?
Where’s Stella Kidd in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 10? Fans noticed she’s missing
Matt Casey’s exit from Chicago Fire Season 10 shocked fans, as Jesse Spencer’s character has been on the show since its humble beginnings. And now, fans noticed Stella Kidd is noticeable absent. So, where’s Stella Kidd on Chicago Fire? Is actor Miranda Rae Mayo planning to exit the show after Casey?
According to One Chicago Center, Kidd fans can relax. She’s still on the show, but she’s not with the rest of the crew in Chicago. Instead, Kelly Severide explained several episodes prior that Kidd went to Boston, Massachusetts, to work on bringing more women into the firefighting industry with her initiative, Girls on Fire.
Mayo also hasn’t mentioned leaving the show, so it seems fans can expect to see her character return at some point in season 10. But Severide didn’t seem to give a timeline for Kidd’s return.
Will Stella Kidd become the captain of Truck 81 now that Matt Casey left the firehouse?
Fans keeping up with Chicago Fire Season 10 know Matt Casey left the series to care for the children of the late firefighter Andy Darden. Now, fans wonder who will take over as captain of Truck 81. TVLine notes showrunner Derek Haas spoke about who could take over — and the Stella Kidd’s name came up.
“We’re doing a major storyline [about] who’s going to be next to be the commanding officer of Truck 81,” Haas said. “Obviously, there are some shifting chairs within the firehouse.”
So, what about Kidd? While Haas didn’t rule it out, it doesn’t sound like Kidd will be the one to take over. “The spot on Truck 81 is potentially open, and she hasn’t come back to claim it as of the next episode, so that has its own issues and ramifications,” Haas added.
It seems Christopher Herrmann also won’t take over as captain. “Herrmann is engine lieutenant,” Haas said. “I think that’s going to stay.”
Will Matt Casey return to ‘Chicago Fire’?
Perhaps Haas won’t give further details about who will become the next captain because Matt Casey will return to Chicago Fire. So, will Matt Casey come back on the show? Sadly for fans, Jesse Spencer doesn’t appear to have any immediate plans to fake out viewers and return during Chicago Fire Season 10. But he hasn’t ruled out the idea, either.
“And there’s always a chance I’ll come back, too,” Spencer told Deadline. “We’re still toying with the ‘Will Casey come back?’ That’s a possibility, you know. Derek and I talked about that and it’s a possibility for me too.”
Additionally, the showrunner hinted that Casey and Stella Kidd will have a future scene together. “With Jesse possibly coming back at some point in this season, we’ll see a Kidd/Casey scene I’m sure,” Haas mentioned, according to Parade. We look forward to seeing what event may take place that will bring Casey and Kidd together again.
Chicago Fire Season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
