The drama is heating up on Chicago Med. The Sept. 29 episode of the NBC medical drama touched on some of the challenges facing the American healthcare system (in this case, a lack of beds) and featured some serious tension between Vanessa (Asjha Cooper) and Dean (Steven Weber) after they disagreed on the best way to treat a patient. In the show’s next episode, the team at Gaffney Medical Center must deal with a wealthy donor who flexes his muscles to get what he wants.

A new ‘Chicago Med’ airs Wednesday, Oct. 6

Chicago Med Season 7 returns for its third episode on Wednesday, Oct. 6. A brief teaser shared on Twitter hints at what’s in store for the team.

“They are two of our most generous funders,” Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) tells Stevie (Kristen Hager) and Maggie (Marlyne Barrett).

“I’ve seen too many people use their money as leverage over others,” Stevie tells Goodwin. (Episode details shared by NBC hint that Stevie and the donor clash after he makes an inappropriate advance on her.)

The teaser then shows an older man — presumably the deep-pocketed donor with a thing for Stevie — clashing with Goodwin.

“If this is how you treat your benefactors, find someone else to fund this hospital,” he says.

A powerful donor isn’t the only issue the doctors will have to deal with in the Oct. 3 episode of Chicago Med, titled “Be the Change You Want to See.” Here’s the official synopsis from NBC:

Dylan and Will deal with a dishonest patient whose lupus is in remission. A wealthy donor makes inappropriate advances toward Stevie. Vanessa, Crockett and Charles try to convince a young woman to have life-saving surgery.
