Throughout Chicago Med Season 7, Maggie Lockwood and Vanessa Taylor have been hiding a huge secret from the rest of the staff at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Vanessa Taylor revealed Maggie Lockwood is her biological mother in the ‘Chicago Med’ Season 7 fall finale

In season 6 of Chicago Med, Maggie Lockwood‘s biological daughter Vanessa Taylor began her residency at Gaffney Medical. Vanessa learns that Maggie is her mother on her own. However, she confronts Maggie and makes her promise that they will keep their relationship a secret.

Vanessa is concerned that the rest of the staff will think she got her residency due to favoritism. Maggie agrees to keep the secret, though she seems pretty hurt.

In the fall finale of Chicago Med Season 7, Vanessa talks with Dr. Stevie Hammer about truthfulness after treating a patient who was hiding the fact that she lost her job. The conversation inspires Vanessa to tell Stevie the truth about Maggie.

Later, at a holiday party, Vanessa announces to the entire staff that Maggie is her biological mother. Maggie appears to be overjoyed, but what will this mean for the rest of the season?

Showrunners tease what’s next for Maggie and her daughter Vanessa

In an interview with TVLine, Chicago Med showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov discussed what Vanessa’s big reveal will mean going forward. “Professionally, we play a little bit of that coming back in [episode] ten about the fallout from that announcement,” Frolov told the outlet.

“But the two of them are going to — you know, Maggie is back in Vanessa’s [life] and vice versa. So, we’re going to keep exploring that. What does it mean? What does it mean in terms of Vanessa’s adopted family?”

“And then there’s the question of who is the biological father?” Schneider continued. “Does he re-enter the picture in some way?” There are certainly a lot of questions that need to be answered in Chicago Med Season 7. In the end, Maggie gave Vanessa something to help her pass the test. Vanessa’s job is safe for now, but if anyone finds out what Maggie did, both their jobs could be in jeopardy.
