At the beginning of Chicago Med Season 6, Episode 8 (titled “Fathers and Mothers, Daughters and Sons”), Natalie finds her mother on the bathroom floor. After she takes her to the hospital, she finds out that she went into heart failure. Crockett steps in to oversee her mother’s care—and Will steps in to comfort Natalie.

Will stops by her mother’s hospital room and brings her favorite flowers. Her mother says Owen is always talking about him. It’s clear she still has fond feelings for Will, and she wants him and Natalie to get back together. Crockett is also aware of this.

It doesn’t seem like a coincidence Will stopped by when Crockett was speaking with Natalie’s mother. Natalie and Crockett are already on shaky ground because their relationship is so new. Unfortunately, Will is making things worse. His actions cause Crockett to doubt where he stands with Natalie. He knows she and Will have a lot of history, so he’s starting to think he should back off.

It’s clear Will is doing things to create friction between Natalie and Crockett because he’s jealous. They’re not together anymore, but it seems part of him wishes he was still with Natalie. It’s eating him up to see her with someone new.

It’s also possible Will was trying to get close to Natalie so he could get another patient in his clinical trial. While she was at her most vulnerable, Will approached her about including her mother in the trial. At first, she agreed to have Will present her mother with the trial option instead of having surgery. However, she changed her mind after speaking with Crockett.

Choi faces unexpected competition

After Choi’s collapse in the emergency department, it was decided he needs to lighten his load. He hires Dean Archer, his former senior medical officer in the Navy, to help him out. Unfortunately, Dean forgets he’s no longer in charge. He starts bossing Choi around almost as soon as he begins working.

When Choi brings this to Dean’s attention, he admits he was just trying to make a good impression. However, we get the feeling Dean isn’t going to back down. We’re bracing ourselves for more drama down the road.

A big change for Daniel

Daniel continues to have conflict with his ex-wife about his daughter, Anna. His ex-wife was planning to take Anna to Arizona, but there was a change of plans. Daniel revealed Anna’s pregnancy scare and told her that their daughter just wants to be heard.

At first, she got upset, but then she realized Daniel is right. She doesn’t feel like she’s the best parent for Anna to live with despite the judge’s ruling. We’re guessing Anna isn’t going to be happy when she hears that her father told her mother she was pregnant. She begged him not to tell, so this will likely create friction down the road.
