‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Cast: Every Cast Member Confirmed in New NBC Photos, Including Kim Burgess
Chicago P.D. Season 9 is right around the corner, and fans can’t wait to see which of their favorite cast members return to the series. According to official photos from NBC, fans can rejoice, as it looks like they’ll see plenty of familiar faces. Here’s who’s officially returning to the Chicago P.D. Season 9 cast — including Kim Burgess.
NBC released photos of the ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 cast
NBC officially released photos for the new One Chicago seasons of Chicago P.D, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med. And Chicago P.D. fans will be pleased to see many of their favorites in the photos. According to TV Insider, a group photo of the Chicago P.D. Season 9 cast shows Tracy Spiridakos returning as Hailey Upton, LaRoyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater, Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead, Jason Beghe as Hank Voight, Patrick Flueger as Adam Ruzek, and Amy Morton as Sergeant Trudy Platt.
The NBC photos don’t show at least one cast member, though. NBC doesn’t feature Lisseth Chavez as Officer Vanessa Rojas. And it seems the network confirmed she won’t return to her role. She was introduced to the series as an undercover cop in season 7. But she promptly left after season 7 and didn’t return for season 8. Now, she won’t return for season 9.
“[Chavez’s] option was not picked up after the series’ creative team had decided to wrap her arc,” Deadline reported ahead of season 8. Because the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic cut last season of Chicago P.D. short, Rojas’ storyline did not get a proper conclusion and the character’s exit will have to be addressed at the start of next season.”
Is Kim Burgess leaving ‘Chicago P.D.’? It seems she’s here to stay
So, is Kim Burgess leaving Chicago P.D? It looks like all signs point to no. According to NBC’s photos, it looks like Marina Squerciati will officially return as Kim Burgess as part of the Chicago P.D. Season 9 cast.
Viewers who watched Chicago P.D. Season 8 remember it didn’t end well for Burgess. Burgess was shot in the stomach and left for dead — but she managed to escape to safety before she fell unconscious. Fans were left uncertain of her fate, though it was clear she made it to the hospital in critical condition. Now, there’s plenty of evidence from NBC to suggest we’ll see plenty of Burgess this season.
Aside from the new cast photos, a new teaser trailer for Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire showed glimpses of Ruzek with Burgess while Burgess lay in a hospital bed. Perhaps the two will continue their romance in the new season.
When does ‘Chicago P.D.’ return?
The Chicago P.D. Season 9 cast will be back on screens by the end of September 2021. So, when is the Chicago P.D. Season 9 premiere date? The new season airs Sept. 22, 2021, at 10 p.m. EST only on NBC.
For those hoping to catch the series premieres of all three One Chicago shows, get ready for a fantastic Wednesday night. The Chicago Fire Season 10 premiere begins Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. EST. And the Chicago Med Season 7 premiere begins at 8 p.m. EST.
All three shows provided plenty of cliffhangers at the end of their seasons, so we look forward to seeing what comes next for the casts.
