The Chicago P.D. Season 9 fall finale is coming soon, and fans can’t wait to see what happens to Hailey Upton, Jay Halstead, Hank Voight, Kim Burgess, Adam Ruzek, and Kevin Atwater. Episode 8 of the current season foreshadowed major events for Upton, Halstead, and Voight moving forward. But according to the showrunner, the fall season finale will focus heavily on Atwater’s “lies.”

The ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 fall finale will have a heavy focus on Kevin Atwater’s ‘lies’

Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 8 left fans off on a cliffhanger as they eagerly await episode 9. Episode 8 focused on Hailey Upton speaking to the FBI about Roy Walton’s disappearance — and the FBI then went to threaten Jay Halstead after Upton refused to speak the truth.

There are plenty of other intersecting storylines, though. And we can’t forget about Kevin Atwater. Earlier in the season, Atwater hit it off romantically with a woman, Celeste, who doesn’t know he’s a cop. And showrunner Gwen Sigan told TVLine that Atwater’s small lie about not admitting he’s a cop to Celeste might cause a major blow-up. moving forward.

“We’ll dive once again into his relationship with Celeste, a woman he cares deeply about but who isn’t aware he’s a cop,” Sigan shared. “Atwater’s lies put him in a tricky position — both morally and on the job. It’s quite a dilemma for him and also explores some deep territory Atwater’s been dealing with this season — the reasons he felt compelled to lie to Celeste, his relationship to being police, and his identity at large.”

With so much happening with Kevin Atwater in Chicago P.D. Season 9, is there a chance LaRoyce Hawkins is leaving the show? It seems the successful actor recently landed a role in a new film, North of the 10. Given his new acting role, some fans may grow concerned Hawkins will leave P.D. behind.

There’s good news, though. There’s no evidence to suggest Hawkins is ditching Chicago P.D. And with the introduction of Celeste and this new, compelling storyline for Atwater, we expect to see a lot more from the character moving forward.

Additionally, Hawkins spoke about what will happen when Atwater eventually finds out the truth about Roy Walton’s death. This likely means the actor will stick around to allow his character to work through these difficulties in the future.

“Depending on what he actually finds out, who’s to say [how he’ll react]?” Hawkins told TVInsider. “That’s also why you see Atwater doing his best to create separation if he can, separation from the badge, so the things that he’s investing in have nothing to do with that just in case he can’t be seen with these people. We got our dirt. We are not a clean unit.”
