NBC’s One Chicago fans can’t wait to see how Chicago P.D. Season 9 progresses. The beginning of the season took a dark turn with Hank Voight and Hailey Upton’s storyline regarding Roy Walton. Now, fans are focused on what happens next with Jay Halstead and Upton’s marriage, Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek’s living situation, and Kevin Atwater’s future as a cop. So, is Chicago P.D. Season 9 new tonight, Jan. 26, 2022? Here’s what to know about the current schedule.

‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Episode 12 saw a new dynamic between Hank Voight and Jay Halstead

Chicago P.D. Season 9 featured a battle between Hank Voight and Jay Halstead. Halstead learned that Hailey Upton killed Roy Walton and Voight did away with the body. And he learned this after Upton proposed to him. Midway through the season, Halstead hit Voight for what occurred with Walton. But, in the end, he joined forces with Voight when Voight’s job and life were threatened by the FBI.

Now, the rest of the season is likely to feature this new dynamic between Voight and Halstead. In episode 12, Voight asked Halstead for guidance during a tricky situation. Halstead actor Jesse Lee Soffer also touched on the developing relationship between the characters.

“He’s not a young detective anymore who makes irrational, brash decisions,” Soffer told TVLine. “He’s a seasoned veteran and a great foil to Voight’s character. Voight, who can walk in the shadows, needs somebody to pull him back. I think it was a logical next step for the two.”

Is Chicago P.D. Season 9 new tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022? Unfortunately, fans will have to wait longer for Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 13 to air. The show is currently on its winter hiatus along with the other One Chicago shows.

So, what’s on during its usual timeslot of 10 p.m. EST? NBC will air a rerun of the show instead of a new episode. The rerun is season 9 episode 3, “The One Next to Me.” On Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, another rerun from the season will air as well.

Fans looking for new episodes will have to wait until late February 2022 at the earliest, One Chicago Center reports. All of NBC’s One Chicago shows will remain on a winter hiatus until after the Winter Olympics air. The Winter Olympics begin on Feb. 4 and end on Feb. 20.

Chicago P.D. Season 9 fans still have questions about several of the main characters moving forward, like Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek. Do Ruzek and Burgess get back together? Currently, they’re not romantically involved. But they both decided they were ready to officially move in together for the benefit of Burgess’s daughter, Makayla.

Showrunner Gwen Sigan talked to TVLine about the remainder of the season — and it further explores Burgess and Ruzek. “They’re in such an interesting, complicated place — they’re a makeshift family, currently platonic but there’s always that chemistry there,” Sigan noted. “It’s a unique relationship with no clear boundaries. The second section of this season really explores that territory. Do they need clear boundaries? Can this family function how they want it to? What does it all mean for Makayla?”
