‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9 Preview Hints Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek Kiss
The return of NBC’s One Chicago shows also brought back more Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess content on Chicago P.D. Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 14 featured Burgess fighting for custody of her daughter, Makayla, after Makayla’s paternal uncle wanted the little girl back. Now, the Chicago P.D. preview for next week shows more trouble ahead for Burgess and Ruzek — but it could also reignite their romance.

The ‘Chicago P.D.’ preview for next week, March 9, 2022, shows the aftermath of Makayla Burgess getting taken
Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 14 proved difficult for Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek. The exes showed up in court to fight for custody of Makayla after Makayla’s paternal uncle filed against Burgess. Earlier in the season, Makayla’s uncle, Theo Morrison, was seen talking to her at her school, TV Line reports.
Because Theo is a wealthy blood relative of Makayla, it seemed Burgess had her work cut out for her. And Burgess’s brush with death earlier in season 9 didn’t do her case any favors. But ultimately, she convinced the courts that she and Makayla should stay together. She won the custody battle against Theo.
Unfortunately, the madness didn’t stop there. Ruzek and Burgess came home to find Makayla gone, and the babysitter was left bleeding on the ground. Someone, presumably Theo, took Makayla. The Chicago P.D. preview for next week, March 9, shows Burgess panicking in the aftermath.
Do Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek get back together? The preview hints they might
The Chicago P.D. preview for next week (episode 15) shows Kim Burgess reeling from Makayla’s kidnapping. “Makayla’s gone!” a voiceover of Burgess echoes as she’s speaking to Adam Ruzek. “Somebody took her, Adam!”
“You’re going to find her, alright?” Ruzek’s voice answers. “You’re going to find her.”
It seems Hank Voight gets in on the case, too. “There is still time,” he says.
Then, a series of moments from episode 15 flash through the preview — and it seems Burgess and Ruzek have several seriously intense moments together. The end of the preview shows Burgess with her arms around Ruzek’s neck as Ruzek leans in for a kiss. This certainly sparks rumors that they reignite their romance through the shared trauma of losing Makayla.
Will Ruzek and Burgess truly get back together? It seems their relationship has been heading in that direction for quite some time, as Ruzek was already planning on moving in with Burgess and Makayla. It would make sense for the couple to formally give their romance another shot.
Fans think there’s danger ahead for Adam Ruzek
While the events to come in Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 15 could bring Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek back together as a couple, fans think Ruzek may run into serious trouble. The synopsis for episode 15 states, “The unit scrambles to search for one of their own who is in grave danger.”
“Ruzek is the only one so far that has not been kidnapped, right?” a fan on Reddit guessed. “So maybe it is his turn.”
“Adam. Or Makayla. But probably Adam,” another Reddit user wrote.
“Either way, Burgess will be hurt in some capacity,” another user noted. “Gotta keep the show’s punching bag and all.”
