Recently, Atwater actor LaRoyce Hawkins talked about Atwater’s close relationship with Burgess. Could there be a romance brewing between the characters?
Do Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek get back together in ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 9?
Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek have a long history — and their relationship got even more complicated in Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 10. So, did the couple get back together? Unfortunately for Burzek fans, they’re still not officially back together in a relationship. But Ruzek made it clear he wants to stay a part of Burgess and her daughter, Makayla’s life.
In episode 10, Burgess and Ruzek had an intense conversation about where they’re headed. And they ultimately decided they should live together, as they both want to be in Makayla’s life despite their romantic — or non-romantic — situation with each other. Burgess and Ruzek made plans to move into a three-bedroom apartment together during the episode.
Their plans could hit a future snag, though. Makayla’s paternal uncle filed a petition for full custody of Makayla, which is something Burgess will have to deal with in the immediate future.

It seems Kim Burgess remains single as Chicago P.D. Season 9 continues. And in Chicago P.D. Season 9 Episode 11, Kevin Atwater became single as well. Atwater told his love interest, Celeste, the truth about his profession even though she made it known she hated cop culture. Because of the lie, Celeste cut off their romance.
Could Kim Burgess and Kevin Atwater get together in light of recent events? They clearly have a good working relationship, so there could be chemistry there. Atwater actor LaRoyce Hawkins talked to TVLine about Burgess and Atwater’s relationship, too.
“We’re definitely going to see moments where Atwater and Burgess are there for each other,” Hawkins explained. “We’re going to see moments where she’s able to communicate to him things that nobody else would, that will challenge him and his character, and Atwater is going to have the same opportunity down the line.”
Hawkins then noted his character and Burgess were originally the “comedic relief” of the show, but he and actor Marina Squerciati now have a bond of their own. “Now, [Marina] and I are parents, and it’s interesting where our conversations take us because it parallels very much the kinds of conversations that Atwater and Burgess have,” he added.

Marina Squerciati talked at length about Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek’s relationship in the past. While she knows Burgess and Ruzek will always have a connection, she mentioned before she’d love if they each tried to date other people.
“I’d kind of like someone else to come along, that one of them gets jealous and realizes what they’re missing,” Squerciati told TVLine.
With that said, Squerciati also acknowledged how Ruzek is “maturing” and doing more for Makayla and Burgess, so there’s certainly a chance they’ll rekindle the old flame — especially if they live together in a new place.
