‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ May Not Be Cancelled After All
Good news, Witches! Chilling Adventures of Sabrina might not be cancelled after all. Fans of the hit Netflix series were devastated to learn that their favorite show following their beloved half-mortal, half-witch, Sabrina Spellman would be ending with Part 4. Now, however, there are whispers that the show may not be ending prematurely after all. But what is sparking these rumors, and how could Chilling Adventures of Sabrina be saved?
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that Netflix had chosen to cancel Chilling Adventures of Sabrina after four short seasons. It came as a shock to fans because the show had garnered a pretty strong viewership since it premiered back in December of 2018. In addition to healthy numbers, the show also received solid ratings from critics and viewers alike. Still, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who served as the showrunner for the series, announced that Part 4 would be the last fans would see of Sabrina.

“Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one,” Aguirre-Sacasa began in his statement. “The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television, and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see part four.”
Fans, of course, were devastated by the news. They even started a petition to renew the series, which has received upwards of 187,000 signatures to date. Fans also worried that since Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was abruptly cancelled, there wouldn’t be a natural or satisfying ending. But, fans weren’t the only ones completley gutted by the news. Several members of the cast took to Instagram to share that they were completley heartbroken that the show would end with part 4.
Will HBO Max give the show new life?
But, it seems that not all hope is lost. According to We Got This Covered, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may find new life after its stint on Netflix has concluded. Although the show is a Netflix Original, the characters of Sabrina are all property of Warner Bros. Because of this, there is a possibility that the show could be moved to a new streaming service, namely HBO Max, which is also owned by Warner Media.
But, even if Chilling Adventures of Sabrina does move from Netflix to HBO Max, fans won’t be hearing about it anytime soon. If there is to be an announcement, it won’t be made until after Part 4 of the series has been aired. Thanks to Netflix, we know that we’ll be getting Part 4 of the series before the end of 2020.
What is the release date for ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Season 4?
“It all comes down to one last Chilling Adventure,’ reads a caption on the Sabrina Netflix Instagram page. “Our final chapter is coming later this year. Coven forever.” Given the nature of the series, we’d guess that part 4 of the show will premiere in October to complement it’s dark and spooky nature. But, truly, it’s anyone’s guess. We’re sure that fans of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina would love for Sabrina’s journey to continue beyond part 4. Only time will tell if the show remains cancelled.
