Chris Pratt Once Gave Away His Elderly Cat on Twitter
Chris Pratt seems to be catching a bunch of flak from fans recently, especially about a cat he used to own. It all started when TV producer Amy Berg tweeted photos of Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, and Chris Evans and told fans that they could only keep three. It seems fans unanimously decided that Pratt was the one who had to go. As fans debated about the Chrises, they brought up how Pratt once gave away his family’s elderly cat on Twitter years ago.
The battle of the Hollywood Chrises
On Oct. 17, Berg tweeted photos of Pratt, Hemsworth, Evans, and Pine with the caption “One has to go.” The tweet was shared over 13,000 times with over 7,000 replies. On Twitter, fans agreed that Pratt did not deserve to be compared to the other Chrises, with many citing his alleged political and religious views.
Other Twitter users brought up that Pratt once infamously used Twitter to give away a cat he shared with now ex-wife Anna Faris. This originally occurred in 2011, but it seems some have not forgotten about the incident.

Faris adopted the cat, named Mrs. White, when no one else wanted the older cat. Mrs. White previously starred in Stuart Little as Snowbell. In a 2009 story with Entertainment Weekly, Faris revealed that Mrs. White typically used “the dining room rug for a litter box” and she had to groom Mrs. White’s tail with scissors because of incontinence.
In 2011, while Pratt starred on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, the actor used Twitter to rehome the cat he shared with Faris. In the now-deleted tweet, he asked if anyone in Los Angeles wanted Mrs. White and that she was older and “prone to accidents.”
The tweet inspired immediate backlash from pet lovers, as many found it to be despicable that Pratt and Faris would rehome their senior cat to a random stranger.
Chris Pratt defended himself for rehoming the cat
In an old blog post from 2011, Pratt cried foul at the backlash on Twitter and defended himself.
While the link to the blog is no longer active, Huffington Post published an except from Pratt’s blog post, writing:
“To those of you somehow hung up on the notion that I kicked the walker out from underneath our cat and threw her into the streets, first of all, cats don’t use walkers, so that’s a ridiculous notion. Secondly… I found my aging cat a god d*mn loving home! Ease up with the death threats for heaven’s sake!
Bottom line, and not that this is any of your f*cking business weirdos, but my wife and I want to start a family and we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have an animal that sh*ts all over the house. Sorry. If you are a parent you will understand. And if not, that probably explains why you have such a hard on for cats. Just sayin’.
So please! Stop with the harassing tweets! That sh*t affects me. I’m human…”
Despite Pratt’s insistence that he did nothing wrong, it seems that fans still have not forgiven Pratt for giving away the cat all those years ago.
