Chrishell Stause’s Blind Date, Robert Drenk, Will Donate $50K to Charity if She Takes a Lie Detector Test to Prove Her Dating Timeline With Jason Oppenheim
When it’s not about multimillion LA mansions, Selling Sunset follows the lives of the Oppenheim Group’s real estate agents as they socialize, date, parent, and buy homes themselves. During season four of the Netflix reality show, former soap star Chrishell Stause accepts a blind date with a friend of Tarek El Moussa, castmate Heather Rae Young’s fiancé (now husband).
While attending a party on a yacht, things got awkward between Stause and her date, Robert Drenk. Now, he’s saying things were way different behind the scenes of the get-together.
Chrishell Stause and Robert Drenk’s awkward blind date on ‘Selling Sunset’
One notable moment from season four of Selling Sunset was the Oppenheim Group’s yacht party. Things got awkward fast when Drenk picked up Stause as she danced with her friends. He carried her to the dining area and said they should get “to know each other.” The former DWTS alum didn’t seem enthusiastic about the idea. Later, Drenk admitted that Selling Sunset viewers saw the scenario out of context.
Everybody thinks, like, ‘Hey, here’s Robert. He just man-handled her and took control of her.’ And no, that’s not what happened at all. That wasn’t the intention,” Drenk told Us Weekly. “I’m a funny, outgoing Scorpio guy [who] likes to have fun. So that was my last attempt at trying to get to know Chrishell as I walked to the back of the boat when they were all fun and bubbly.”
How did Stause and Drenk end their blind date?
Drenk claims he felt “hurt” and “used” months after the party was filmed. I’d never once in my life been on any type of date that I was treated like that — just ignored and belittled pretty much,” he said. After hours of filming, Drenk explained, he was in disbelief that El Moussa would put him in this situation.
Since filming wrapped, Stause and Oppenheim revealed they were in a relationship. For Drenk, the pieces of the puzzle finally fit. Stause defended herself, saying,”I was 100% single on this boat and free to date anybody I wanted.”
Drenk responded via Us Weekly, “I don’t date individuals I work with as it’s bad business,” adding that he had “no doubt” Stause and Oppenheimer were dating at the time of their blind date. He went to far as to bet money on it:
“If Chrishell wanted to take, like, a polygraph [test] to prove that — if she proved that [she] and Jason had no relationship or no connection at that point — I’ll donate $50,000 to a charity of her choice. If she’s that honest, I would happily do that, but I don’t think that’s the case.”
Drenk and Stause had a Twitter spat prior to his bet. “Oh hi Robert!” Stause tweeted. “Jason was not my boyfriend here. In fact, that step came much later. But if thinking that makes you feel better about your behavior, I get it.”
Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim’s relationship timeline
Oppenheim spoke to Reality Blurb about his romance with co-star and fellow realtor Stause, confirming that he wanted to keep things private with his girlfriend for a few months.
The cofounder of Oppenheim group explained that he “didn’t have concerns” about dating an employee. “I knew who Chrishell was and I think she knew who I was. We had gotten to know each other as friends pretty well. I don’t know if there’s anyone I could have been more comfortable with in terms of the level of communication and trust and comfort that we had.”
The couple was spotted out and about during their seven-month relationship, details House Beautiful. Stause and Oppenheim traveled to Italy and attended the premiere of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings together. Then, on December 21, 2021, they announced their breakup. Hopefully, Netflix captures the aftermath on the next season of Selling Sunset.
