Chrissy Teigen Channels Her Inner Cookie Monster to Throw Shade at Girl Scout Cookies
Chrissy Teigen loves food just about as much as any person can. She has two cookbooks and an entire website and blog dedicated to her love of food called “Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings.” Her husband, John Legend, once made a lifelong dream of hers come true by giving her a giant cheese wheel for Christmas.
Not only does Teigen share her own recipes, but she is outspoken about her opinion of food prepared by others. Her lists of recommended restaurants have been called “basic” by critics, but she doesn’t care, she likes what she likes.
Now, her honesty about her taste in food is getting some criticism yet again. In recent social media posts, she slammed a beloved American cookie brand and really got people talking.
Chrissy Teigen dissed Girl Scout cookies
Americans love Girl Scout cookies. From January to March when they are on sale, they are America’s #1 cookie, in fact. Thin Mints are by far the fan favorite, followed by Samoas (called Caramel deLites in some places) and Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs). Not only do these cookies taste delicious, but they also help teach young girls entrepreneurial skills and fund activities and trips for the scouts.
The benefit to the scouts aside, Teigen, is not impressed by the taste of the cookies, and she displayed her thoughts on Instagram and Twitter.
She shared a photo of several Girl Scout cookies all laid out on a piece of paper under a red sad face with the caption: “I did the ranking you’re all too scared to do.”
She then ranked them again in another post as if there were no other cookies in the world. In that ranking, she placed frozen Thin Mints and Samoas in the lead and left S’mores and Tagalogs in the red.
Chrissy Teigen’s opinion on Girl Scout cookies got fans buzzing
Teigen’s original ranking image of America’s beloved cookies got over a thousand comments on Twitter. Some fans were in agreement, others were shocked, some even scolded her for giving the Girl Scouts bad press, but mostly, there were a lot of memes and hilarious faux outrage.
“Oh wow, chrissy teigen cancelled??” one Twitter user commented.
“Is this one of those tweets where you’ve been kidnapped and you’re trying to tip off your followers that something is wrong,” one fan wondered.
Even the official Twitter of Girl Scouts made a comment: “It’s okay, Chrissy. Girls still learn valuable skills and can make an impact in the community when you donate a box of cookies, too.”
Now, to be fair, Teigen does love to cook and has a killer recipe for Chex Mix chocolate chip cookies on her website. One could assume that perhaps she just doesn’t like packaged cookies in general, and prefers to bake them herself. Unfortunately for slighted Thin Mint fans, this is not the case.
Chrissy Teigen once ate an entire box of Oreos
When Girl Scout cookies aren’t around, Oreos are the number one cookie in America, and Teigen apparently loves those. In a tweet from September of 2019, Teigen wrote:
“Ate an entire box of Oreos (for research) because they sent this giant escape room-like mystery package for their mystery flavor. Little clues all over. crying that the baker left his card in the box. Chris Saunt. this is my kind of humor. Haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.”
She goes on to describe eating 30 Oreos and slowly swishing them around in her mouth to try and figure out the flavor. Her guess was French toast or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She said she tried to call Saunt to find out for sure but he wasn’t picking up.
Many commenters loved the tweet and Oreo’s official Twitter joined in the fun of poking at Teigen’s indulgence writing: “For ‘research’ you say…”
As of this writing, no angry mobs of cookie-wielding Girl Scouts have raided the Teigen-Legend residence, so we can safely assume all anger was in good fun.
