Chrissy Teigen Is ‘Trying to Save Her Partnerships’ Says, Courtney Stodden
Chrissy Teigen has always been known for her presence on Twitter. But, this week, some of her old commentary on the app landed her in hot water. When Courtney Stodden spoke out about how they were treated by the cookbook writer when they were only 16 years old, many people were disgusted by Teigen’s behavior. Teigen has since apologized, but Stodden seems to be calling BS.
Between 2011-2012, Teigen posted a number of disparaging things about Stodden on Twitter. One of the most offensive tweets encouraged the then 16-year-old to take a “dirt nap.” As if that wasn’t bad enough, Stodden spoke with The Daily Beast and revealed that the mom of two also messaged them directly with hateful commentary, even encouraging them to kill themselves.
Chrissy Teigen apologized to Courtney Stodden on Twitter
Naturally, Teigen received plenty of backlash for her past behavior and she took to her Twitter page to publicly apologize to Stodden. “Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bullshit in front of the entire world,” the former model shared. “I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll.”
Continuing on, Teigen claimed that she was degusted with her past behavior. “I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel,” she declared. “I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!!”
The cookbook writer also apologized to her fans
The cook also shared that she tried to connect with Stodden to privately apologize. “I have tried to connect with Courtney privately but since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize,” Teigen tweeted. “I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am.”
Finally, Teigen apologized to her supporters on Twitter and promised to do better in the future. “And I am so sorry I let you guys down,” she penned. “I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.” Of course, some of Teigen’s fans were quick to accept her apology, declaring that she’d likely grown since she wrote terrible things about Stodden. Stodden even publicly accepted Teigen’s apology, however, they also alleged that Teigen wasn’t being entirely truthful.
Teigen blocked Stodden on Twitter and allegedly lied about personally reaching out
“I accept her apology and forgive her,” Stodden wrote about Teigen. “But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private. In fact, she blocked me on Twitter. All of me wants to believe this is a sincere apology, but it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realizing her ‘wokeness’ is a broken record.”
Clearly, it’s not all water under the bridge between Stodden and Teigen. Only time will tell if we hear anything else from Teigen on the matter.
