Chrissy Teigen’s Food Empire Got Majorly Shaded By a Celebrity Cook
Chrissy Teigen is beloved by millions all over the world for her delicious recipes, her sarcastic social media presence, and for her unfiltered honesty about celebrity life. Teigen began her career as a supermodel, posing for many of the most popular magazines and walking the runways for major brands. Teigen had bigger ambitions, however, and parlayed her personable nature into a food empire that is the envy of many. One celebrity chef who does not envy Teigen, however, is a cookbook author and chef Alison Roman. Recently, Roman had some harsh words to say about Teigen, which caused the former model to quickly respond on Twitter.
Chrissy Teigen is a popular cook and food blogger
Teigen’s love of food began at an early age when she prepared food in the kitchen with her Thai mother and her father. Even when she rocked bikinis on the runway, she was never shy about admitting to her love of food, and early on in her career, she launched a food blog called “So Delushious.” Teigen used to blog to connect with fans and share her favorite recipes and cooking tips.
Her blog became super-popular, and Teigen went on to release two best-selling cookbooks. With recipes in her books for updated classics like chicken pot pie soup and beef stew, as well as unique recipes inspired by Teigen’s heritage, the books have become standards for many home cooks.
Teigen also released a line of curated cookware for Target, and in 2019, she launched a brand-new website: “Cravings by Chrissy Teigen.” On her new site, Teigen shares her latest recipes, answers fan questions, and posts reviews for her favorite restaurants and cooking products.
Alison Roman shaded Chrissy Teigen
There’s no doubt that many people love Teigen, and live for her relatable, outgoing personality. However, Brooklyn-based cook Alison Roman, who has written successful cookbooks like Nothing Fancy and Dining In, has nothing but disdain for Teigen, and recently slammed her food empire.
According to a recent interview with Roman, she “doesn’t aspire” to what Teigen has created at all.
“What Chrissy Teigen has done is so crazy to me,” Roman stated. “She had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it’s just, like, people running a content farm for her.”
Roman went on to say that Teigen’s career in food “horrifies her,” although she did admit that “she’s making a ton of f*king money.” In her charged interview, Roman also took potshots at home organizing expert Marie Kondo.
Later, Roman expressed no regret for her harsh words for the two successful women, revealing that “when women bully other women for being honest about money and how much they do or do not make, well, that’s amore.”
What did Chrissy Teigen say in response to Alison Roman?
Not only did a lot of Teigen fans react immediately on social media, slamming Roman for bullying and negativity, but Teigen herself also got in on the controversy. Teigen posted on Twitter that Roman’s remarks were a “huge bummer,” and admitted: “I have made her recipes for years now, bought the cookbooks, supported her on social and praised her in interviews. I even signed on to executive produce the very show she talks about doing in this article.”
She also clarified that what Roman referred to in her interview as a “farm” doesn’t exist at all: “‘farm’ you think of doesn’t exist. I am the farm. I am the cows the horses the pigs.”
Teigen’s fans were quick to point out that she has been passionate about food long before she monetized her passion. What’s more, there is space in the market for two talented recipe creators.
Ultimately, Roman ended up apologizing to Teigen publicly on Twitter, saying that she is “genuinely sorry” that she caused her any pain and that she also sent an email in explanation. Whether Teigen and Roman end up moving on from this controversy, however, remains to be seen.
